Rolfing® in the News!
Certified Rolfer® Lu Müller-Kaul is featured on WKMG Local 6 News. Just a few weeks ago the Orlando Sentinel had a wonderful articlethat explained a lot of the facts (and myths) about Rolfing®.
The article has generated a buzz locally to learn even more about this unique modality that can completely resolve a variety of chronic issues and eliminate the pain arising from them.
Shortly after the article came out, Balance was contacted by WKMG Local Channel 6 News reporter Jessica Sanchez about her interest in producing a segment exploring the benefits of Rolfing. In addition to Lu, Sanchez also interviewed Rolfing client Sunny Raskinwho is completing the Rolfing Series as she prepares to mount her on-stage spectacular: Procrastination An Electronica Operetta at this year's Orlando International Fringe Theater Festival.
View the WKMG News video here. In addition to the recent news segment, Lu will be speaking about Rolfing this summer at several Orange County Libraries as part of their Summer Lecture Program.
We'll have more information about when and where you can catch these talks in next month's newsletter.
To learn more about Rolfing, see the "About Rolfing" page at The Rolf Institute for Structural
Integration's website. And to see a break-down of the Ten Series visit the Rolfing page at our website.
To best determine if Rolfing might be the right solution to resolve your chronic pain, you can book a FREE consultation with our Certified
Rolfer®, Lu Müller-Kaul (read about Lu's education and experience on her bio-page).

Greetings!
In our first newsletter in September '09 we explained
Rolfing Structural Integration® (click here if you missed that issue). In our 2nd newsletter we took an in-depth look at Myofascial Release (click here if you want to see that one, too).
Well now it's time to explore other special modalities and techniques offered by our therapists.
This month's topic: Craniosacral Therapy offered by Sarah Lord.
After reading the article, If you have any questions or are interested in booking an appointment with Sarah to try it out, please call the office at 407-704-8867.

What is Craniosacral Therapy?
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
CST, or Craniosacral Therapy (also
known as Cranial-Sacral Therapy), is a gentle, soft-touch type of
therapy that taps into the body's innate ability to heal itself when
possible. Using specifically designed, light pressure, techniques
CST releases restrictions and compression in the Craniosacral system.
How Does it
Work?
The Craniosacral system is a physiological system - like our
cardiovascular and respiratory systems - that provides the physical
environment in which the brain and spinal cord develop and function.
Comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and
protect the brain and spinal cord, this system - like it's
counterparts - has its own rhythm.
CST practitioners use a very light touch to monitor this rhythm
and pinpoint sources of obstruction and stress in the body. Once
located, the therapist assists the natural movement and release of
the restriction through gentle massage of the bones in the skull
(including the face and mouth), spine, and pelvis. Once the
restriction is removed, and the cerebrospinal fluid can return to its
natural rhythm, the body's own healing process takes over.
What are the Benefits?
Because CST is focused on the physiological system surrounding the
brain, nerves and spine it can dramatically effect both the physical
and mental health of person receiving treatment. In addition to
simply calming the nervous system and reducing stress, CST has has
been shown to provide benefits to people suffering from a number of
chronic disorders including:
Migraine Headaches
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Autism
Central Nervous System Disorders
Orthopedic Problems
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Scoliosis
Learning Disabilities
Chronic Fatigue
Emotional Difficulties
Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Surgical Dysfunction
Because of the very gentle nature soft touch of CST, it can even
be applied to young children and infants to treat childhood
conditions like poor sleep, restlessness, colic and ear infections.
Is it For Real?
While scientific evidence in support of CST's positive affect on
the body is slim and some in the medical field even call it
"quackery," the almost 100 years of anecdotal evidence is
overwhelming, and no study has ever proven the therapy harmful or the
anecdotal claims false. |
Coming Soon! In future newsletters we'll explore these other modalities:
Assisted Stretching is like a mixture of massage and personal training that involves the therapist instructing and manually
assisting the client in utilizing a variety of stretches designed to address a number of issues and resolve the chronic pain and tension they cause. Offered by Mimi Ravndal, assisted stretching is also another great way to achieve better posture and alignment.
Acupressure, based in the principals of ancient Chinese Medicine, utilizes finger pressure (instead of needles) on specific points along the Meridians to release blockages and help activate the body's own healing energy. Offered by Robert Hawxhurst, Acupressure is a wonderful way to achieve a balance in energy that can eliminate or greatly reduce chronic stress and pain.
