We are very proud to announce the opening of our newest facility, Catalina Tempering Ohio. Operational for over two weeks, the plant marks our eighth Glasswerks location and our fourth Catalina Tempering plant. See all our photos in our album.

Catalina Tempering Ohio is up & running!
Two weeks ago we announced the official opening of Catalina Tempering Ohio, and to introduce the new plant to our readers we could think nothing better than to interview the new General Manger of Catalina Tempering Ohio, Bill Bryan.
We sat down with Bill who shared his extensive industry experience, the new Catalina Tempering Ohio, and life in Utica, Ohio.

Q. Bill, thanks for taking the time to talk with us. There's a lot to discuss, but first let's start with you: Tell us all a little about yourself.
A. Well I'm an Ohio native, married to Brandee with a family of seven kids: three boys and four girls--ages ranging from twenty-four to eight--and two grandchildren.
Q. You joined Glasswerks last November, but you are no stranger to the glass industry nor to the role of General Manager. We're really excited about the wealth of experience you're bringing to Glasswerks. Could you briefly share your history prior to joining Glasswerks?
A. Prior to joining Glasswerks I served as Plant Manager for AGC Flat Glass North America for 10 years at the Hebron Ohio Plant, and the last three years as Corporate Regional Lean Manufacturing Manager. Before AGC, I worked in the automotive industry at Colins & Aikman from 1986 as Plant Superintendent for the Zanesville Ohio Plant, a tier one automotive supplier. The plant was 800,000 sq. ft. and employed over 300 before it closed in 1999.

Catalina Tempering Ohio - Main Building

Tempering Ohio facility: What are the dimensions of the new plant and how many are on staff now?
A. The total is 141,000 sq. ft., the main building is 131,000 sq. ft. and the annex building is 10,000 sq. ft. We currently employ 13.
Q. What divisions/product lines/services are currently being offered?
A. Tempered glass for residential window manufacture's with clear, tints and low-e. We also offer v-groove fabrication.
Q. Are there any important modifications made to the facility prior to its opening worth mentioning?
A. We upgraded the electrical service and replaced the plant lighting with energy efficient fixtures.
Q. Why did Catalina Tempering choose Utica, Ohio as its newest site for expansion?
A. Utica is positioned in central Ohio which is a good geographical area to reach neighboring states--Pennsylvania, Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky.
Q. Tell us about Utica. If we were to visit, what is a must-see landmark?
A. The only thing in Utica is the Velvet Ice Cream Factory and us. The population of Utica is 2100 and the area is 1.7 miles. Take a look at this picture. This is my rush hour traffic on my way to work.

Q. Wow! We love that picture! Utica seems like a small town.
A. It's a small community, yes, and I see that as an advantage. We've been very successful in working with small communities, and that's why we're really excited to be in Utica.

The newest entry in Guardian's SuperNeutral® Series has Guardian's highest light-to-solar-gain ratio (LSG) ever. SNX 62/27 delivers 62% visible light transmission and a low 0.27 solar heat gain coefficient, for an impressive LSG ratio of 2.30.
This performance means SNX 62/27 lets in lots of natural light but still blocks solar heat, saving on energy costs and helping projects qualify for LEED credits.
