 Great Glasswerk: The iBAR by spinTouch
Today's Great Glasswerk gives us a glimpse into how the application of glass is evolving. In a world that is shifting towards more interactive, social, and digital experiences and platforms, glass is fast becoming the building material for the everyday hi-tech interface. Introducing the iBar by spinTouch.
Location:
spinTouch custom designed and executed the iBar (short for "Interactive Bar") for an MTV VIP Special Venue: the "Ford Mustang Giveaway" held at the West Coast Customs (WCC) HQ in California in partnership with Ford Company.
Prior to its current reality show on TLC, West Coast Customs starred in MTV's hit auto-makeover show "Pimp My Ride" which displayed the restyling and modifying talents of WCC.
The exclusive, invite-only event called for a certain flare which the "Pimp My Ride" audiences were familiar with. spinTOUCH aimed to impress, and that they did with the unique 7-foot interactive iBAR.
Fabrication & Specs:
Glasswerks worked within a tight 24-hour deadline, providing 1/4" Acid Etched Metalux Tempered Glass, 1/4" Flat-Polished Clear Tempered Glass, and a 3/16" Clear Mirror with Swiped Edges. The surface, customized with a number of multi touch animations representing the event sponsors was a big hit with the 400+ attendees.
