Chuck Ward, our beloved former organist,is being honored with a Lifetime Contribution Award by
the Country Dance & Song Society! Sunday, March 28th, 2 pm to 6 pm. Come
for an afternoon of music, song, and dance, with tributes to Chuck, and tales
of his musical pranks and escapades! Potluck cold buffet will be served. Many
of us have fond memories of Chuck Ward, who was our organist at the 11:15
service for many years, and still comes back to tune our pipe organ. He is also
considered the "father" of Country Dance here in Northern California! The event
takes place at the Albany Veterans Memorial Building, 1325 Portland Ave,
Albany, CA. For more info, see the bulletin board in Farlander Hall or contact
Sharon Green (sharongreen@post.harvard.edu or
510-654-7974).
The Altar Guild will need LOTS of fresh flowers to decorate
the Church for Easter. Please bring your cut flowers and greens to the Parish
Hall on Saturday, April 3. We need the flowers BEFORE 10:00 am. All colors and
kinds are welcome. You can bring them from your gardens or from a nursery or
store. Thank you!
Our Annual Good Friday Concert is
coming up! The St. Cecilia Choir and Cantiamo Sonoma will join forces with the
Incarnation Orchestra to perform Franz Schubert's "Stabat Mater D.383 in f
minor" on Good Friday evening, April 2 at 8:00 p.m. Sponsored by Numina.
Nicholas Xenelis will be guest conductor, and Leslie Dukes will be organist.
Among the featured soloists will be our own Carol Menke! The "Stabat
Mater" score was completed in February of 1816 but the first public
performance of it was not until March 1833, five years after Schubert's death.
In fact, much of Schubert's music was not well known and appreciated until
after his death. This particular "Stabat Mater" contains some of the best
choral writing of the period, including two fine fugues. Most people know
Schubert for his beautiful lieder and instrumental works, but his choral works
also feature his gift for the beautiful melodic line. This one traditionally
sells out, so get your tickets now! Tickets are available from Carol Menke, or
online at www.numinacenter.org.

A
note from Daphne Vernon-Easter Feast!This

donations of baked goods. Any baked goods would be a welcome dessert for this
Easter Feast. You can deliver them to church Easter morning and leave them in
Farlander Hall. They will be picked up Monday and served at the Easter dinner.
Thank you in advance for your loving donations from your table to St. Andrew's.

Wanted: Bookstore Assistants from the 11:15 Service! The Bookstore
is still looking for additional help. We have had a wonderful response from
parishioners who attend the 9:15 service and who have volunteered to work one
Sunday a month following that service. However, we still need help for about a half-hour
following the 11:15 service. If you are interested in this really fun job,
please see Maggie in the Bookstore or call her at (707) 495-2494.
