It was great having my son, Aaron Jackson, visit this last week and it's always a treat to have family and friends attend services at Unity on the Bay. In contemplating the possibilities before us in this age of transformation, it seems to me we are all being asked to take a moment, breathe, and simplify the way we live our lives, being mindful of the well being of our fellow human beings and this amazing planet we live on. To that degree, I asked my son to write a poem on the subject of taking the complication out of life and I share it with you here. Sometimes we sour at sights that we see, Feeling forgotten within complexity. Hidden in hallways that stretch on for miles, Totally taken by a wide world of trials. Meaning to remember what matters instead, But caught up in chaos we keep in our heads. Tempted to take on a trillion false feats, Worrying of which one we should first meet. Buried beneath each blistering burden, We are merely mixed up, confused and uncertain. Let go of the clammer and noise we create, And remember the miracles that make up each day. I focus on what serves me, releasing what does not And in this path of simplicity, I had that which I sought.
