A rite of passage is an ancient model for understanding and coping with change in life. It involves three phases: endings, the void and new beginnings. All change begins with an end, which is often painful. Knowing that change can ultimately result in a better life, we can learn to honor our pain without allowing it to overcome us.
The void is often a very unsettling time. Our familiar world may have been shattered, and the new world isn't yet in place. It provokes a feeling of emptiness and a sense of wandering in the wilderness. This is a time to stay centered in prayer, knowing the God is in the midst of your change and that it is here to bless you.
The rite of passage ends with a new beginning. We discover a new and hopeful definition of ourselves and our life. Here is the reward of our journey. Because of the ending and our walk through the void, our life is now a more fulfilling experience.
This week, take a look at your life and consider where you may be in your own rites of passage. They are taking place in different ways at different times...all the time. That's because life is change. By understanding and appreciating where you are in the cycle, you can honor your changes and anticipate the ultimate improvement they make in your life experience.

Do you know Carol Troendle?
Carol has been serving at Unity on the Bay for many years and has done so in a variety of ways including in her current role as the Treasurer of our Board of Trustees. Through her service within the Board, Carol has held many positions within committees including the Finance Committee and the By-Laws Committee. She has not only served with an open heart but also opened her home to a variety of special activities such as Ministry Retreats and Strategic Visioning. As a member of the An Adventure in Faith Team, Carol has spearheaded the 12 Hours Transformational Journey for many years and brought her experience and love to support AIF in multiple ways. She is a Prayer Emissary Emeritus, facilitator for the Oneness Blessing and so much more. For this and more, Carol Troendle is our Sacred Server of the Month.
