Car Safety!
Okay...so some of you (probably all of you!) know that I am a little "nutty" when it comes to safety! Especially car safety! This month lets focus on our TIRES!
TIRES...who knew that tires expire??? Even if they look brand new and have never been used, they can still be expired...and dangerous! I received an email recently explaining just that. ABC's 20/20 recently investigated the dangers of old tires. Many popular stores and tire dealers sell "brand new tires" that are old! More than 100 deaths in the U.S. are attributed to aged tires. Old tires are subjected to greater stress. The rubber on tires is aging whether or not we are driving on them. The inner layers of tires slowly decompose and dry out...whether or not we use them! This can cause the tread to separate.
The age of a tire can be determined by checking the identification number on the sidewall that begins with the letters "DOT". The last 4 digits represent the week and year the tire was manufactured. Tires made in the 1990's have 3 numbers while tires made after 2000 have 4 numbers. Some believe the shelf life of tires should be up to 6 years. I urge you to check your tires before your summer trips! Tires that are worn out, under-inflated or expired are dangerous! Please keep yourselves and your children safe!!! |

Fisher-Price Oc ean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing---
I want to swing in one of these! I have actually seen these in person and like it! It is a swing that goes from side to side or back to front, can be used as a swing or cradle, and my student claims that it "calms the baby down when anything else fails"! I am a big believer in swings! Some are softer (chenille); some are more entertaining. Go find the one that appeals to you! Since 1989, Diane has been a Registered Nurse specializing in assisting women through childbirth. In 2003, she began her own company. As a Personal Childbirth Trainer, she has enjoyed guiding 172 couples through the birth process. In addition, she has helped 3 other nurses start their own businesses teaching the PCT Childbirth Workshop in Washington, D.C. and Florida!
When she isn't working (when is this???) she can usually be found spinning at a gym or sipping green iced-tea at Starbucks!
