 Greetings!

Dan in AlaskaSpring has sprung here in Montana. Nearly two months ahead of schedule. It's hard to believe but compared to the winters I  experienced when I moved here twenty-two years ago, it's obvious there have been major changes  in the western climate. The following eNEws highlights projects I'm currently working on with Polar Bears International that are tied to the climate issues we're all seeing. It includes information regarding our photography tours as well as a few recent publication highlights. 2009 was a very busy year with many changes in the photography industry. We're hopeful you've weathered the storm in a positive way. Give us a call if we can help with any of your natural history photo needs or if you would like to join us  on one of our Invitational Photo Adventures

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Cox

  Nikon's Inside the Photographers Studio
The April 2010 issue of Digital Photo Pro magazine contains an ad by Nikon highlighting Dan's work titled Inside the Photographers Studio. This advertisement is formatted in the style of a mini-interview.

In Dan's case his studio is the great outdoors.  Dan has been shooting Nikon equipment since 1979 and is now using many of their new products as he moves into the multimedia world, capturing moving images along with his stills.

Natural Exposures and PBI Share New Office Space

Dan and Tanya have been volunteering for Polar Bears International for nearly ten years. Many of the clerical and fund raising activities have been based out of our Natural Exposures office in Bozeman, Montana.

PBI has been mostly a virtual organization with volunteers spread out throughout the US and Canada. This month that changes... PBI is moving their US headquarters to Bozeman, Montana. Many of us who already volunteer for PBI live in Bozeman, including  F
rances Graham, Marcie Hahn-Knoff and PBI's Chief of Staff Krista Wright. We're looking forward to this ongoing relationship. You can see photos of us getting our new office in shape by clicking on the photo above or go to our Blog.

Hewlett Packard Launches ARTtrust with Daniel J. Cox

Dan has been working with Hewlett Packard 's  large format printer division for several years now. Recently HP began a new program called ARTtrust that allows artists that create fine art prints of any kind to keep track of their work. It also allows art buyers the ability to check the authenticity of the art they have or art they are interested in purchasing. The ARTtrust web site explains it below...

ARTtrust Online is a simple self-certification system under full control of each photographer or artist. It provides an individual identity to any Digital Fine Art Collection Pigment Print produced on an HP Professional Photo Printer using HP Vivera pigment inks on any compatible media. The solution is a combination of physical elements and data accessibility through the Internet, integrating the best of analog and digital capabilities. ARTtrust Online is a Prooftag solution, developed with HP and endorsed by Wilhelm Imaging Research.

All of Dan's Fine Art Limited Edition prints will now contain the ARTtrust seal of approval.

The Best Little Camera Store in the West!

F/11 Photo in Bozeman, Montana
F/11 Photo in Bozeman, Montana
One of the best kept secrets in the photography world is a small but very well stocked store in Bozeman, Montana. It's called
F/11 and Dan's been shopping there since the early 80's. They're also an Apple Value Added Reseller. See Dan's Blog for more reasons why he uses them more than any other photo retailer. A hint: He recently was able to get his hands on the fabulous Panasonic GF1 through F/11. Nobody else in the US had one in stock. Montana is also sales tax free.

Leopard in Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya

Our Kenya 2010 trip was said to have had the best game viewing in 20 years! If you have never been to Kenya, now is the time to visit. When was the last time you photographed a lion pride with oodles of cubs...a leopard in a tree with its kill., the cheetah trio hunting..a hippo in the river you are crossing by safari vehicle...a herd of 100+ elephants, almost forgot the giraffe in the sunset, a hyena family at its den, the jackal scavaging, a mongoose, vervet monkey troop, baboons...the list goes on...:)

We work with the best tour operators in Kenya that offer exceptional service. Dan will offer personal help with your digital photography and work flow.
It's not only a great way to learn but many people tell us it's a vacation as well. Learn more about our trip at

"You are the 'Makers of Dreams"! ...it has been a dream since childhood to travel to Africa to see the animals. To have the opportunity to do a photographic safari with you (both of you) was the gift of a lifetime. Your organization, communication, leadership, mentorship, and friendship were all of the highest quality throughout this experience. Having gone on the great Katmai bear trip, I had high expectations for the Kenya trip, and those expectations were exceeded everyday of the trip. When I show my pictures to friends, the comment that is repeated over and over again is 'I can't believe you saw and experienced all of that in just two weeks time!' Thanks, beyond words, to both of you for all that you did to make this opportunity available to us lucky folks..."
