Books We Recommend

The sun is shining and we have a new place to kick back and relax. Here is Margaret enjoying a good book and a beautiful, sunny day at one of our new umbrella tables on the back patio.

We love to talk about books -- and to recommend books that we love. We have set aside a display at the front of the store for staff picks. Come on in and check it out! We have also posted our recommendations on our website.

Here are the latest recommendations from our booksellers:

  • Betty recommends

In the Name of HonorIn the Name of Honor
by
Richard North Patterson

Richard North Patterson always delivers. A compelling tale of murder...this time involving a military family steeped in tradition and honor. A riveting look into the mores of those who defend us, and a courtroom drama that is off the charts.

  • Pete recommends
The Sorcerer's and Their ApprenticesThe Sorcerers and Their Apprentices
by Frank Moss

The inside story of the MIT Media Lab -- the largest collection of creative genius east of the Wellesley Books break room.

  • Lorna recommends
Corduroy MansionsCorduroy Mansions
by Alexander McCall Smith

I'm a big fan of Alexander McCall Smith's 44 Scotland Street series, and now, as it turns out, this is the first book in a series much like it, just set in an apartment building in London instead of Edinburgh. As always plenty of characters to like and cheer for and a particulary wonderful dog named Freddy De La Hay.

  • Margaret recommends

Theodore Boone: The AbductionTheodore Boone: The Abduction
by
John Grisham

Theo's best friend April has apparently been abducted from her home. Suspicion centers on a relative recently released from prison, but Theo is convinced the police are looking in the wrong direction. While the chase is on, there's still time for courtroom action in "kitty court", where Theo finds himself defending a foul-mouthed parrot. Suspenseful and funny!
Ages 9-12.

Dog of the Week
  • Luna

LunaLuna came in with her owner, Lois, to visit Sally, bookseller extraordinaire. She is a cute, shy Cavalier King Charles. Sally has a new puppy, Sydney, on the way -- a mini Australian Labradoodle. I bet Luna is looking forward to playing with Sydney. Or maybe not... I can't wait to see what a mini Australian Labradoodle looks like!
