Garden Lighting Ideas - Landscape Lights
Gardens can be many things from utilitarian spaces where we grow our food, to luxurious hideaways and places to entertain guests. Whatever the style or function, any garden may be enhanced by the proper kind of illumination and transformed from a daylight-only area to a secure nighttime workspace or fantasy landscape. For more ideas go to: Gardenguides.com. Late Night in the Vegetable Garden: If you are one of those folks who never has enough time during the day to get the weeding and planting, done, or if you live in an area of blisteringly hot days when doing the simplest gardening chores may lead to heat stroke, consider working at night. You will not enjoy a great many flowers whose blooms open and close with the sun, but those are best enjoyed from a cozy bench with a glass of lemonade in hand anyway, and night is a convenient time to transplant and weed. For this situation, fasten swivel mount spotlights on tall posts at garden corners (or wherever needed most). They will provide plenty of adjustable lighting to get the job done when everything is cool and quiet. Consider walkway lights at the ends of each row. Most have on/off switches so you need not have the entire garden lit when not in use.
Magic in the Moonlight: For a purely magical effect--especially in gardens designed for entertainment -- hang an extra large, white spherical light fixture slightly lower at each end of the garden, but still partly obscured by tree branches or finely cut foliage. When it is very dark outside, these will give a "moon and stars" effect to softly illuminate the garden. We can offer you twinkle lights that are hardwired and rated for outdoor use. We can install waterproof LEDs here and there in the ground cover near paths, guests will have no trouble finding their way in this romantic garden. To further enhance the magic, drop an occasional mini blinking LED from a length of fishing line away from paths. When they wave in the breeze you will get the effect of fireflies.
Tropical Paradise: In warmer zones where gardens may be filled with tropical foliage and exotic plantings, get with the theme and space tiki torches along garden paths for flickering light. You can use the real thing or invest in safer, adjustable gas versions. It is worthwhile to investigate and understand the differences before buying, as there are some important factors to consider. They come in many styles to suit your landscape and home, and they look great reflected in waterfall pools. Float a few lotus-flower-shaped waterproof LEDs, in the pool to enhance the tropical effect while beautifully illuminating the pool.
Please remember that landscape lights should be installed by a licensed electrician as they require permits. Landscapers should not be installing your landscape lighting.
Give us a call at 732-821-0200 if you have any questions about landscape lighting.

Across the country, the definition of a Whole House Fan and an Attic Fan varies, causing some confusion...
A whole house fan · Mounts between living space and attic. · Runs only during cooler evening, night and morning periods. · Draws fresh cool air in through your living space through open windows. · Pulls indoor air into the attic and forces hot attic air out through the roof vents. · Cools the living space and draws heat buildup out of entire building structure.
Attic fans are run during the heat of the day, in order to reduce attic heat buildup -- they ventilate attic space only. Whole house fans are run in the cool of the evening, night and morning, to draw fresh cool air into the whole house wile forcing hot air out through the attic.
An attic fan
· Mounts between attic space and outside.
· Runs during the heat of the day. · Ejects super-heated air from your attic actively (typically, this is achieved passively using roof vent convection). · Creates negative pressure in the attic that draws outside air in through roof venting. · Helps mitigate heat buildup in the building.
The addition of an AirScape Whole House Fan provides energy efficient
natural cooling delivering home comfort and enjoyable evening air. We
recommend them for all regions across the US, wherever there is warm
days and cool nights.
As for attic fans, if you live in a hot, dry, sunny climate, consider
adding a solar-powered attic fan in addition to a whole house fan. This
device is self-powered, easy to install, turns on automatically as
appropriate, and will have a significant impact in reducing building
heat load. They are not a replacement for a whole house fans, but is a
smart addition to your home cooling strategy in sunny hot climates. Our
AirScape Solar Attic Fan is engineered to work with our Whole House
Fans, guaranteeing you years of worry free operation.

Why People Are Happier On Weeeeeekends!
When you can decide for yourself what you will do (autonomy), have more time with family and friends (relatedness) and can do things you're good at (competency), you are happier. That's why psychologists say both men and women feel better emotionally and physically on weekends.
The weekend effect isn't the same, however, for those who regularly work on weekends and have other days off. They probably feel they have more autonomy, relatedness and feeling of competence on days like Tuesday and Wednesday. That effect was not part of the study published in the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology. Autonomy, positive relations with co-workers, and feelings of competence make people on the job feel good too.

April 1st, A Time of Tomfoolery
Call it April Fools? Day or the Day of Tomfoolery, April 1 can bring out the prankster in most of us. The trick can be as small as changing the time on someone's clock, serving cereal that has been placed in the freezer, saying a snake is at their feet or telling someone there is a spot on their shirt. But hoaxes can also be elaborate and catch the world by surprise. Over the years, many have gained "elite" status.
· In 1957, the BBC show Panorama announced that Swiss farmers were enjoying a bumper spaghetti crop from their spaghetti trees. Accompanying footage showed spaghetti strands being pulled out of the trees. Calls flooded in asking where the viewers could obtain a "spaghetti tree." Tis said a wit at the BBC said callers could place a strand of spaghetti in tomato sauce and see what happened. · One year, Burger King ran an ad for a Left Handed Whopper whose ingredients had been shifted so condiments would leak out the right side. Not only did people attempt to order the Left Handed Whopper but some customers came in and specified they wanted a Right Handed Whopper. · Comic strips often join in the April Fools? Day fun. Cartoonists of syndicated strips will draw each other's strips or incorporate "visiting" characters into their own. In one strip, Garfield ate Dagwood?s sandwich. · TV shows are not immune. In 1997, Alex Trebek, host of Jeopardy, traded places with Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune. Sajak and Vanna White then played as contestants on their own show.
· In 2005, a news story was downloaded to the official NASA Web site announcing a picture of water on Mars. The photo consisted of a glass of water on a Mars candy bar. |
