How do you make a customer? By
CLIENTELING!!!
For a few months in college, I worked at Macy's jewelry counter. The first day on the job I was handed a CLIENTELE BOOK. I am still shocked how many jewelry store employees do not have one!! DAY 1 you need to start clienteling.....
Keeping records of who your customers are is essential to the growth of your business.
Your best customer is your return customer. You get repeat customers through basic record keeping. Keep track of your customers' birthdays, favorite jewelry lines, and important dates. Good clienteling is your best tool for repeat sales. Hopefully these tips will help get you motivated!

6 TIPS
FOR MAKING CUSTOMERS!
#1 Make Appointments
Like Dentists, people need to get their prongs checked every 6 months. Call, set up appointments, and get more people in the store!

#3 ASK THEIR OPINION!!
Aristotle said humans have a basic need to feel important. Nothing makes people feel more important than asking for them to help. Something as easy as asking a customer to help you move a display can make them feel important. I know a very savoy jeweler who has trunk shows and invites customer to select what items are bought for the store.
Try calling customers and saying something like: "We are going on a buying trip next month. We would like to know what YOU THINK we should buy? Do you have any advice as to what jewelry you would like to see?"

#4 KEEP IN TOUCH! I know a car salesman who became a top seller by sending a personal card to all of his customers EVERY MONTH! My realtor sends me a fun Chicago trivia question every month. You're too busy to keep in contact??? Then have someone else do it for you! Sendoutcards.com sends personal cards from your company to your customers. A personalized holiday card could make a difference this holiday season.

#5 Write Down Your Best Sales Lines!
Being a great sales person takes practice. Write scripts for greeting customers. Memorize lines like "Your ring is here, now lets go find it!" Practice at sales meetings. Have your best closing lines memorized and ready to go. Have a script written for selling add-on's and see how much your sales increase!

#6 GIVE YOUR BUSINESS CARD OUT EVERYWHERE!
If you are not the type of person who hands everyone your card, make your card something you WILL hand out!
Make pens with your name on them. Make your business card on a small chocolate bar. DO WHATEVER it takes to make sure your card get into the hands of your hair stylist, your church friends, your golf buddies and your dry cleaner!!! Giving your card out OUTSIDE of your store is a great way to GET MORE BUSINESS. Think of everyone as a potentially a customer.
