Greetings!
Spring is here, and that means farmers market season has begun!

We love shopping in farmers markets - it's so much more pleasant than shopping at a supermarket, and the food can't be beat.  Everything is super fresh, often picked (or caught) just the day before, and it doesn't need to travel across the country (or across continents) to get to you.  The variety of fruits, veggies, meat, poultry, fish, cheeses, breads (and more) is always changing, so shopping at farmers markets can add instant variety to your diet.

But best of all, when you bring home great-tasting, high-quality farmers market ingredients, your job becomes easy.  With some simple, unfussy cooking (often, merely some chopping), you can look like a culinary genius - the food already tastes great!

For tips on shopping at farmers markets, including the best times to shop, the surprising variety of things you can buy there, and why you should always talk to the farmers, check out our newest guide: How to Shop in a Farmers Market.  And, if you're wondering what's in season now, or at any time during the year, visit our What's In Season pages.  Happy market-going!

Cheers!

P.S.  Have a question regarding seasonal produce?  Wondering how to store a certain item, or pick the best ingredients?  Just ask!  Or, better yet, stop by one of my Union Square Greenmarket (NYC) cooking demos and learn how to prepare the season's produce!  (I'll be there today - Friday 5/7 - 9:30am-3ish, Bodhi Tree farm stand, on the west side of the park.)
