Yama Seiki Introduces Goodway SW Series Swiss-type Turning Centers

Goodway SW-32 Swiss-type turning center

As seen in Manufacturing News - "Yama Seiki introduces its new maximum performance Goodway Swiss-type turning centers with leading technology and high quality components," said a Yama Seiki spokesperson. "The Goodway Swiss-type turning center SW machines provide the best solution for workpieces with diameters smaller than 32 mm." Machines in the SW series include the SW-20 (20 mm max. machining diameter), the SW-32 (32 mm max. machining diameter) and the SW-42 (42 mm max. machining diameter). Additionally, the SW series machines are available with a sub-spindle, live tooling and a barfeeder.

"The SW series offers flexible operations such as turning, milling, and cross drilling. With a different combination of power systems, main-spindle, sub-spindle, front-end tooling, rear-end tooling, C-axis and live tools, the workpiece can be finished on the machine and this also allows two operations to be machined simultaneously."

The SW series features modular spindle construction. The spindle can be exchanged to be bush-type or bushless-type depending on different work requirements. The bushless design is suitable for machining cold-forged bar and the remaining bar can be less than 50 mm to save material cost. The bush-type can be rotated with high speed for less surface damage and to increase working performance.

Fully enclosed splashguards keep chips and coolant contained for a safe, clean working environment. "All spindle and servo motors are Fanuc high performance components to ensure peak machining performance and accuracy," said the spokesperson. "C3 class hardened and precision ground ballscrews ensure high accuracy and durability. Plus, pretension on all axes minimizes thermal distortion."

Automatic lubrication is provided to all slideways, ballscrews and vital components. Maintenance-free piston distributors deliver a precise quantity of oil to each lubrication point. Distribution is automatically shut off during idling to prevent waste. The piston distributors are non-clogging and the design allows way lube consumption to be minimized.

An optional A/C unit is available to control the temperature and humidity inside the electrical cabinet. This helps to extend the life of electrical components.

OptiPro SystemsFlow International Introduces Innovations in Waterjet Technology

Flow International Waterjet Technology

As seen in Manufacturing News - Flow International has launched three new waterjet products: the Mach 4c, the Mach 2c and the HyPlex Prime. The Mach 4c is designed to optimize the production environment, the Mach 2c is designed to provide value and the HyPlex Prime is an advanced direct drive pump.

The Mach 4c is the newest addition to the Mach 4 line of waterjets and offers a variety of features that are unique in the waterjet industry including an expandable modular design, up to 14 m (48') in length, allowing customers to increase the size of the cutting area as their business grows. The system is designed to provide fast, accurate machine motion with zero backlash. The new Mach 4 is ergonomically designed to improve operator convenience and productivity with lighting to enhance work piece visibility, efficient abrasive removal and easy access to material and parts with full four-sided accessibility.

The Mach 2c is a value-priced machine tool optimized for either pure or abrasive waterjet cutting. The motion control system offers up to 800 inches per minute cut speeds. Flow's exclusive Dynamic Waterjet is also available on the Mach 2c. Designed to eliminate taper errors and stream lag, Dynamic Waterjet can bring accuracy and speed to 2D cutting. Whether cutting 3" thick steel plate or multistacked gasket material, the US-made Mach 2c provides fast and accurate cutting.

The new HyPlex Prime pump rated at 60,000 PSI combines elements of Flow's patented HyperJet seal technology with the efficiency of a direct drive. With a highly modular design, it is designed to feature customized pump performance at a production-level price. Its new compact pressure-loading tool allows fast, accurate and repeatable maintenance.

OptiPro SystemsOptiPro is Celebrating its 30th Anniversary!

30 years ago, Mike Bechtold, President of OptiPro, and his brother Bob Bechtold established OptiPro Systems (formerly CNC Systems) in response to the rapid advancement of computers and its impact on the manufacturing world. Mike recognized that technical service and support would be critical in this new age of technology and assembled a team dedicated to supplying the industry with the best possible manufacturing methods available utilizing state-of-the-art CNC equipment.

Next month, we will be showcasing a video that takes you on a journey of OptiPro's 30 year history. See how a two-person company started in 1982 has evolved into an organization of 50 employees committed to customer service, devoted to innovation and with one goal in mind: Help our customers prosper through innovative manufacturing solutions.
