OptiPro SystemsProduct Update on UltraForm Finishing
UltraForm Finishing
UltraForm Finishing

OptiPro's patented 5-axis sub-aperture polishing system, UltraForm Finishing (UFF), has made significant technological strides over the past year for a wide variety of projects for the department of defense.

For those unfamiliar with the UFF process, this system utilizes a belt of polishing material backed by a polyurethane wheel at the polishing interface. This polishing belt can either be impregnated with polishing compounds or used in conjunction with traditional polishing slurries. The flexibility of polishing medium allows UFF to polish a wide variety of materials.

OptiPro has achieved some exciting results that have helped make UFF the ideal choice for companies that manufacture aspheres. The PRO 80UFF, UFF 300, and UFF 500 machine platforms all have the capability to finish grind optics in under 20 minutes with accuracies up to 1/4 wave peak-to-valley. The three UFF platforms finish a variety of different materials, including glasses and harder ceramics. The PRO 80UFF, UFF 300, and UFF 500 currently finish planos, spheres, and aspheres and OptiPro is developing the technology required to finish freeform optics.

When UltraForm Finishing is implemented with the OptiTrace 5000 Asphere Measurement System or UltraSurf 4X/5X Non-Contact Metrology Systems, optical fabrication shops can streamline asphere production utilizing equipment manufactured in the U.S. by OptiPro's team of engineers and technicians. With asphere manufacturing work beginning to come back to the United States, look to OptiPro's line of CNC Grinding, UltraForm Finishing, and asphere metrology equipment to help minimize processing time while yielding results that coincide with your exact specifications.

For more information on UltraForm Finishing or any of OptiPro's lens manufacturing platforms, please contact Dave Mohring, Director of Optical Products, by calling 585-265-0160 x232 or send emails to dmohring@optipro.com.

PRO 80GTS
PRO 80GTS >>

The first three PRO 80 machines built by OptiPro have been shipped to longtime customer Kreischer Optics! Kreischer Optics, who currently has three UltraForm Finishing machines in their facility, purchased each machine in the PRO 80 Series (PRO 80GTS, PRO 80P, and PRO 80UFF) while being manufactured.

The PRO Series line of machines are designed with a vibration isolated "rock-solid" granite core to ensure ultimate precision, thermal stability, and consistent part-to-part accuracy.

PRO 80P
PRO 80P >>

The PRO 80 Series line of optical fabrication equipment incorporates state-of-the-art components into a compact and ergonomic platform.

The PRO 80GTS grinds spherical lenses with tight optical tolerances in optimum cycle times. The PRO 80P is a high speed spherical lens polisher for workpieces up to 80 mm in diameter. The PRO 80UFF utilizes the UltraForm Finishing process to polish planos, spheres, and aspheres from 10 mm to 80 mm in diameter.
