| New Advancements Highlight Most Recent SBIR Review Meeting |
| OptiPro President Mike Bechtold presents at the Summer SBIR Review Meeting on June 28th. |
OptiPro's SBIR Review Meeting was a success once again as nearly 60 people attended the biannual event. The meeting, which took place on June 28th, brought representatives from government agencies, prime contractors, and companies from all across the nation to see the most recent advancements being made in the precision optics industry due to the funding provided by SBIR contracts. 13 individuals, including 7 OptiPro employees, updated the group on recent developments regarding a wide range of topics - from precise finishing to accurate measurement of complex shapes made from both hard and soft materials. Other companies that presented their progress in the SBIR program included QED Technologies, Applied Science Innovations, ASE Optics, Optimax Systems, and CeraNova.
Upon completion of the presentations, attendees stopped by OptiPro's facility to receive a shop tour and view machine demonstrations of OptiPro's equipment, including the all new PRO 80GTS, PRO 80P, PRO 80UFF and PRO Tower. Guests also enjoyed beer, wine, and appetizers while networking with one another.
We want to thank both Dan Harris of the US Navy and Brian Jones of the US Army for their continued contributions to the SBIR program. We would also like to thank everyone who took the time out of their busy schedules to attend the event. To view pictures from the event, click on the link below.

Sign Up for the 2nd Annual OptiPro U Course on Advanced Optical Manufacturing |
| The first OptiPro U class from the summer of 2010. |
UPDATE: DATE CHANGED TO OCTOBER 31-NOVEMBER 4TH! This change was made so that it could take place during our annual open house...
OptiPro U will be available once again to anyone interested in learning more about the topic of Advanced Optical Manufacturing. Unlike the previous OptiPro U course which took place in the summer, this year's training course will take place in the fall (October 31-November 4). The delay is due to construction of the new building addition which is to be completed by the end of August. The building addition will allow additional space for our Advanced Process Development (APD) lab and Metrology lab. Expanding our APD Lab with new grinding, polishing, and measuring equipment will allow for more students and hands-on experience.
OptiPro U is a one of a kind course that allows students to learn how to use the latest innovations being developed at OptiPro. Throughout the week students will receive classroom theory pertaining to deterministic microgrinding of spheres and aspheres, high-speed polishing of spheres, and sub-aperture polishing of aspheres while implementing interferometric, non-contact and contact metrology systems. Students will also receive ample hands-on experience in putting the classroom theory to practice by using OptiPro's eSX grinding, ePX polishing, UltraForm Finishing (UFF), OptiTrace 5000, UltraSurf, and the all-new PRO Series machines, which includes the PRO 80GTS, PRO 80P, PRO 80UFF, and PRO Tower.
Cost for the entire week of training is only $1500! To sign up, please contact OptiPro by calling 585-265-0160 or send emails to sales@optipro.com. |
OptiPro Systems is a global leader in designing and building computer controlled grinding, polishing, and measuring equipment for the precision optics industry. If you would like to reach us, please call (585) 265-0160 or send emails to sales@optipro.com.
