 | OptiPro to Present Webcast on Asphere Fabrication |
OptiPro has been chosen to present a webcast on Asphere Fabrication on Laser Focus World's website ( www.optoiq.com)! Developments in optical fabrication equipment for precision optics have opened the door for cost effective implementation of aspheres in optical designs. Fast and accurate grinding, sub-aperture polishing and measurement of aspheric surfaces is critical for a robust manufacturing solution. In this webcast, OptiPro Systems will present the essential requirements and recent developments in asphere fabrication. The date and time of the webcast is June 30 from 1:00-1:30 PM EST. For more information, including how to attend the webcast, please call OptiPro at (585) 265-0160 or send emails to dmohring@optipro.com. |

Two OptiPro Employees to Give Presentations at Upcoming June Conferences |
OptiPro's David Mohring will be giving a presentation at the Mirror Technology SBIR/STTR Workshop, which takes place from June 7-9 at Boulder, Colorado, USA. Dr. Shai Shafrir, staff scientist at OptiPro, will be presenting at the Optical Fabrication and Testing (OF&T) topical meeting, which is from June 13-17 at the Snow King Resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA.
David Mohring's presentation is titled "Recent Developments in the UltraForm Finishing and UltraSurf Measuring of Axisymmetric IR Domes" and will discuss the UFF (CNC controlled finishing platform) and the UltraSurf (Automated non-contact measurement device) platforms developed by OptiPro Systems. These platforms provide a deterministic fabrication solution for a wide range of newly developed windows, domes, mirrors and conformal shapes made of extremely difficult to manufacture glass, crystal and ceramic materials.
Dr. Shai Shafrir's first of two presentations is titled "Optimization of Deterministic Microgrinding (DMG) Conditions for Optical Glasses and Ceramics". During this presentation, he will discuss Design of Experiments (DOE) approach for studying the interactions between grinding tools and substrates under a variety of operating conditions (Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 3:00 PM). The second presentation titled "UFF Polishing for Optical Glasses and Ceramics" (Thursday, June 17, 2010, 11:30 AM) will review OptiPro's UltraForm Finishing (UFF) polishing platform. In this presentation Shai will review the concepts of the UFF process with real life examples. In addition, he will be presenting a poster titled "Complex Surface Measurement by Non-Contact Probes" discussing OptiPro's UltraSurf 5-axis non-contact measuring system (Monday, June 14, 2010, 6:00 PM).
If you plan on making the trip to either one of these conferences, you are invited to attend Dave and Shai's presentations, which promise to be both interesting and informative. |

OptiPro U Training Course Filling Up Fast |

Seven of the twelve available spots for OptiPro U have been booked! If you are thinking about attending, make sure to sign up before registration closes. This one of a kind course on Advanced Optical Manufacturing will allow students to learn how to use the latest innovations being developed at OptiPro. Throughout the week students will receive class room theory pertaining to deterministic microgrinding of spheres and aspheres, high-speed polishing of spheres, and sub-aperture polishing of aspheres while implementing interferometric, non-contact and contact metrology systems. They will also receive ample hands on experience in putting the class room theory to practice by using OptiPro's advanced optical manufacturing laboratory. Here they will use the latest OptiPro eSX grinding, ePX high-speed polishing, Ultra-Form Finishing (UFF), OptiTrace, UltraSurf, and interferometric platforms.
The training course will take place August 16th through August 20th. Cost for the entire week of training is only $1200. To sign up, please contact OptiPro by calling (585) 265-0160 or send emails to sales@optipro.com. |
