Volunteer Recognition
& Day of Caring Kick-off Recap

Volunteer Breakfast09

Dave Markward (Chair of United Way Board of Directors) and Lois Buntz (United Way of East Central Iowa President and CEO), present Jim Tinker the John B. Northcott Award.

Thank you to those who attended the Volunteer Recognition Breakfast & Day of Caring Kick-off event. We had a great turnout with over 400 attendees!

The 2009 Volunteer Awards include: Business of the Year Award, The Hall-Perrine Foundation and Penford Products Co.; Perpetuating Community Leaders Award, Tom Anderson; Community Service Award, Community Corrections Improvement Association; Labor Community Service Leader Award, IBEW Local 405; John B. Northcott Award, Jim Tinker.

In the past, the Lynn L. Nichols award has acknowledged an executive or staff member from a United Way partner agency for his or her outstanding professional leadership, service and collaboration. This year, as a result of the natural disasters and economic challenges our community is facing, we wanted to do something a little different. The 2009 Lynn L. Nichols Award was awarded to all of our 42 United Way Partner Agencies who have risen above to help those most in need. Thank you for your countless hours of service to people in our community!
