"Dare to be Different"

Miss D'Ericka Willis, a First Priority student at Daniel Payne Middle School, shared the poem below with First Priority. She was out of school for a short period due to sickness and wrote a poem from her heart. She asked us to share these words with you.

"Dare to be Different"

Dare to be different

Is what you should do

Dare to be different

Is what life is all about

Your personality makes you different

Your actions make you different

The way you dress makes you different

The way you walk makes you different

The talk makes you different

Dare to be different

Is what you should do

Dare to be different

Is what life is all about

Believing in God makes you different

Being yourself makes you different

Where you come from makes you different

Dare to be different

Is what you should do

Dare to be different

Is what life is all about

First Priority is the first step of being different

You have many choices and steps to follow and you're on the right track of doing that

So I ask you; "Are you daring to be different?"

First Priority Night Recap and Pictures

Barons Night 2012

"We had an awesome time at the Barons game; it was the first time for my group and we will definitely do it again next year," said Kristi, a youth leader who attended First Priority Night. More than 400 people came out to join First Priority for a night with the Birmingham Barons on Saturday, May 19, as the team took on the Montgomery Biscuits. The evening began with a pre-game event. First Priority Area Director James Cato shared an inspirational message from Mark 8:27-30 ~ "Who do we say that Jesus is to us in a world of adversity?" International Christian Rap Artist Hallel H.P. then brought hip hop flavor to the gospel presentation with high-energy Christian rap music. He engaged the crowd with three songs and a great time of worship. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and some even said they normally don't listen to rap, but they really liked Hallel's music. Before the pre-game event ended, James challenged the group to be the salt and light and share Jesus with others. First Priority attendees then enjoyed a hot dog and a drink in a souvenir cup as they watched the Barons game.

We would like to thank all those who attended. Please join us next year as we enjoy another First Priority Night with the Birmingham Barons!
