Javier from movie Courageous to speak at First Priority's SCORE Dinner |

We are excited to announce that Javier from the new Sherwood Film Courageous, Robert Amaya, will be our special guest speaker at our 18th Annual SCORE (Students Count On Real Examples) Dinner, Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Life Baptist Church, 6200 Lou George Loop, Bessemer, AL, 35022. Robert is a bilingual professional actor/singer in Miami with a background in theater. Robert felt humbled and honored playing his character in the movie Courageous because it reminded him of his own father's struggles to survive in a new country with a family.
Robert has been privileged to perform regionally for classic productions such as "You Can't Take It With You" and "A Midsummer's Night Dream;" and for award-winning musicals the likes of "Les Miserables" and "Miss Saigon." He has also worked for the Walt Disney World Company as a member of the critically acclaimed, Voices of Liberty. Robert volunteers as a worship leader and children's ministry actor at his church. He helped launch and organize "FamJamz," a family ministry based on the "Think Orange" concept where families are encouraged to worship together and parents are equipped to be more involved in their children's spiritual development.
He is married to his high school sweetheart, Colleen, who is also an actress and vocalist. He is the father of a young daughter, Sophia. He is the son of immigrant parents Roberto and Maria Amaya, who have previously been in full-time ministry. He has one sister, Arlene, who is an educator at a Christian elementary school.
Between projects, Robert travels across the nation singing and speaking at both English and Spanish churches, schools, and organizations about a variety of topics including fatherhood, honor and Christianity.
We invite you to come out and hear Robert and his words of encouragement on Thursday, April 26. You will also receive the opportunity to learn more about First Priority and the impact it is making in thousands of lives across the Greater-Birmingham area. Sponsorships and seats are still available for our dinner. Click here for more information or call 205.871.8886. |
