Campus Update - Great things happening in our Schools!

Despite tornados, great things happening at Daniel Payne Middle School

Daniel Payne MSDaniel Payne Middle School is just one of the many schools across our state with a First Priority Club. It is also one of the many schools affected by April's disastrous tornados. More than 100 students have been misplaced and did not return back to school this year. John Lassiter, Daniel Payne Middle School First Priority Teacher Sponsor, has not lost hope. He works hard motivating students to get involved with First Priority and he is a true inspiration to the students when it comes to being bold about sharing their faith. This year's See You at the Pole is just one example of the many great things happening in this school despite the tragedy it faced earlier this year. More than 75 students and 15 adults joined together to pray for their school, community and our nation. This is proof even more that God is doing great things in places that sometimes get left behind or forgotten.

Hoover System on the move

Hoover High School is now the home for 2,600 students with a variety of different interests. Hoover, along with Spain Park and Bumpus Middle School, also has a unique feature to its school in that students are allowed to participate in a club of choice during the academic day. Students have a wide range of clubs to choose from but Christian clubs are also in abundance.

Hoover HSThis year, we really wanted to see the "Body of Christ" come together and make an impact. So, before school began all the teacher sponsors and ministry leaders that represent the different Christian clubs came together to strategize how we could unite to reach Hoover High School with the message of Jesus. On August 24, 2011, at Club Sign-up Day, Undivided was launched and over 700 students signed their name to be a part of what God is doing at Hoover. The Undivided club has been moved from the cafeteria to the gymnasium because it is the largest club on Campus. It is such an awesome sight to see a fourth of the school's population coming together whereas in the past there might have been 100 kids in the different clubs. Although with this great number of students we are encouraged, we realize there are still 1,900 students that we desperately need to reach. Please pray that God will give the students favor and help them keep their eyes on the goal to reach every student with the love and message of Jesus Christ.

Debi DeBoer

Area Director

"I have had the privilege to work with First Priority for five years at Hoover High School. God has been faithful every year to lead and encourage students through this ministry. This year, with over one fourth of the school as members of Undivided, we are anxious to see how God will be moving and changing our school for His glory!"
