URGENT WARNING ARE YOU TAKING VITAMIN D2?
Counseling with a client who's M.D. had run Vitamin D blood tests and was insisting that she take Vitamin D, I asked her to read me the prescription.
First, if you have read HealthQuest e-News Vol. 59, you know Vitamin D blood tests are not the only tests required to accurately diagnose Vitamin D deficiency and, thus, is it not advisable to supplement with Vitamin D based on blood testing alone.
You also know that I recommended not to take Vitamin D sold to the public in pill form, and in Vol. 59 I provided the only safe Vitamin D supplements the public can take daily.
Now, back to my client. From her prescription, she read "Ergocalciferol." I informed her that this is Vitamin D2.
Many physicians and even some nutritional professionals are not aware of the latest clinical nutrition research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Vol. 84, No. 4, 694-697, October 2006, titled, "The Case Against Ergocalciferol (Vitamin D2) as a Vitamin Supplement."
This clinical study reported: "Vitamin D2 does not raise serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (i.e., it does raise Vitamin D low blood levels), and it has a diminished binding of Vitamin D2 metabolites to vitamin D binding protein in plasma, and it has a nonphysiologic metabolism (i.e., cannot be metabolized).
Therefore, Vitamin D2, or ergocalciferol, should not be regarded as a nutrient suitable for supplementation or fortification (such as included in packaged, processed foods)."
As you know from past newsletters, we want to avoid any "food" that has been "fortified" with an isolated vitamin or mineral, anyway.
This is another example of the misinformation that comes from taking nutritional advice from a well-meaning practitioners who are not also trained in Clinical Nutrition, OR their primary care practice is just too time-consuming for them to stay up on the latest clinical studies as well as the clinical studies for their primary care, whether that is medicine, chiropractics, osteopathy, orthopedics, etc.
Medical School Curriculum does not include clinical nutrition interpretation of laboratory tests, the usage and type of vitamin supplements that actually assist the body in healing vs. those sold to the public (like Vitamin D2), which suppress symptoms by manipulating biochemistry, like drugs.
When originally writing HealthQuest e-News, Vol 59, it seemed sufficient to just warn our subscribers about taking any Vitamin D in pill form -- however, now it seems it is important to be more specific since a number of subscribers and clients, who have been prescribed Vitamin D2 by their physicians.
For the most important key points about Vitamin D (Testing and Correcting Deficiencies) read all of Vol. 59. Also in this newsletter is information (warnings) about taking isolated vitamins and minerals of any kind.

Greetings! |
Greetings!
After emailing on April 18th, HealthQuest e-News, Vol. 60, about High Blood Pressure, I had an intuitive sense to re-read my "Greetings." In doing so, I realized there were two things I had inadvertently overlooked including:
#1 the Causes and How To Correct High and Low Blood Pressure. Rather important section wouldn't you say!!! LOL. Therefore, consider the April (Vol. 60) Newsletter is about understanding what high blood pressure drugs are actually doing to your biochemistry (adverse affects) and this May HealthQuest e-News (Vol 61) is completing Volume 60's topic on blood pressure.
#2 Announcing the Winner of our Free Drawing at the Hospice Health Fair.
Upcoming newsletter topics will still be:
Causes, Prevention and the Clinical Nutrition and Naturopathic Approach to Healing Cancer and Autism.
Be sure to read the Warning I have included on taking Vitamin D2 Supplements. This warning comes from the scientific research reported in the America Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Want to keep or print a copy of my newsletters? Great, I highly recommend that you do, some information you may need to know now, and other information, you may not need until years from now... so I recommend that you highlight, copy and paste our newsletters into a
Word Document, then you can
print all or parts of the newsletter as you desire. Printing the
newsletter from this email is not user friendly.
In closing, if you have received this newsletter from a friend, through Facebook, etc, and have not yet subscribed, you will want to do so to receive the passcodes to open our web site pages linked in our newsletters.

CAUSES AND HOW TO BALANCE BLOOD PRESSURE
|
For a complete understanding of why I have separated the following information in to "Causes" and "Effects," read Dr. Smith's article titled, Causes of All Illnesses and Diseases," which will be posted this month on our web page titled, "Articles By Dr. Smith."
CAUSES
Long-Term Lifestyle Practices or Exposures that Cause High Blood Pressure. specifically...
* Smoking * Being overweight or obese * Lack of physical activity
* Pregnancy * Long-term or excessive intake of much Sodium Chloride (like Morton's salt) in the diet - True sodium (salt) like Sea Salt does not affect elevate blood pressure.
* Too much alcoholconsumption (more than 1 to 2 drinks per day) * Birth control pills (oral contraceptive use): Some women who take birth
control pills develop high blood pressure.
* Drugs: Certain drugs, such as amphetamines (stimulants), diet pills, and
some pills used for cold and allergy symptoms,
tend to raise blood pressure. * Family history of
high blood pressure - generally, this means that the person has
continued to live the same way as their parents or primary caregiver,
as it relates to adverse lifestyle practices that causes High Blood
Pressure. * Hereditary: Coarctation of the aorta - is a narrowing of the aorta that you are born with that can cause high blood pressure in your arms.
* Stress (more specifically Stressors) - that deplete nutrients from the following areas of the body, adrenals, thyroid, kidneys, heart and circulatory system. Please note: o Stressors was covered in HealthQuest e-News Vol. 60, for which this email addendum was sent OR click here for definitions. o Spiritual, Mental and Emotional Stressors can lead to Neuro-Emotional Components. This was covered sufficiently in Vol. 60 in the section titled, "Jim's Success Story" or click here to go to Archives of Past Issues.
* Hereditary/Genetics-
this is listed in most medical texts on high blood pressure and
certainly can be a factor. However, this not as often the case as you might be lead to think. Read below the article on "Medical Reports and the Causes of All Illnesses and Diseases."
EFFECTS
In time, the above Lifestyle Causes leads to the follow Effects, which then Produce the Symptom of High Blood Pressure?
* Mineral Deficiencies - when the diet is insufficient in essential minerals, specifically copper, zinc, potassium, calcium, and magnesium it affects blood pressure balance. A Tissue Mineral Hair Analysis will identify mineral deficiencies, to order this test, call (940) 761-4045.
* Chronic kidney disease - due to toxicity from chemicals and metals in food, water and air, which over time, affects kidney function and causes infections in the kidneys. A clinical nutrition interpretation of blood chemistry will assess kidney function, which is not detectable in a medical interpretation of blood chemistry.
* Adrenal disorders - Stressors cause the adrenals to over-produce adrenalin and other adrenal hormones required to handle ongoing and extreme stress levels. In time, the adrenals become dysfunctional and cannot do their part in regulating blood pressure. Tumors of the adrenal glands can also elevated blood pressure. Our Adrenal Stress Saliva Testing and Tissue Mineral Hair Analysis will identify adrenal dysfunctions and factors adversely affecting adrenals.
* Thyroid disorders - same as Adrenal disorders, just substitute thyroid hormones for adrenal hormones. Also, when the adrenals become malnourished, it will draw nutrients from the thyroid, which adds to thyroid dysfunction. Our Tissue Mineral Hair Analysis will identify minerals require for transporting thyroid hormones, which is often the first and primary factor adversely affecting thyroids. Without mineral to transport thyroid hormones, thyroid hormones can show false high or low levels in blood testing.
TO IMPROVE AND MAINTAIN BLOOD PRESSURE BALANCE, EACH PERSON MUST CORRECT ITS CAUSE AND EFFECT
BALANCING BLOOD PRESSURE Identifying some Lifestyle Causes are obvious, like avoiding smoking, drugs, alcohol, birth control pills, Sodium Chloride (Morton's Salt) and starting an exercise regime, using 1-2 teaspoons daily, at least, of Pink Salt (what we dispense to clients) or Celtic Sea Salt, if it applies to you.
However, when challenged with adhering to the decision to do so, our lifestyle coaching, homeopathics and neuro-emotional techniques are effect to release beliefs, attitudes, and static/negative energy blocking or sabotaging successful follow-through. Read Jim's Blood Pressure Success Story in HealthQuest e-News, Vol. 60 for which this Addendum was written for more details on Neuro-Emotional Technique to identify Neuro-Emotional Components. Or click here to go directly to Archives of Past Issues.
The effects on nutritional biochemistry and biology, such as balancing thyroid and adrenal hormones, detoxifying and restoring homeostatic function to the lungs (from smoking) liver (alcohol) and kidneys, nutritionally supporting pregnancy, restoring mineral balance requires a clinical nutrition analysis of laboratory testing (blood, urine, hair, saliva, etc.) to identify the vitamin/mineral deficiencies, biochemical imbalances and organ, gland, and body system dysfunctions, that are adversely affecting your blood pressure balance and to design a therapeutic whole food supplement and dietary program to correct them.
Regarding weight loss, since 1981, I have not put a single client on a weight loss program, yet clients who need to lose weight will do so by improving their health. Weight is simply a symptom of an imbalanced body chemistry.
For information on my approach to weight loss, click here to read my website article titled, "The Fat Fallacy and the 10 Biological Factors." Services above regarding smoking, alcohol, etc. are also beneficial in losing and maintaining permanent weight loss.
Stressors are also identified and corrected utilizing any one or more of the above, depending upon which stressors are affecting blood pressure. Click here for a definition of each Stressor.
Drugs (Prescribed for Blood Pressure) -clients are able to request that their physicians assist them in reducing strength, dosage and/or frequency and eventually wean themselves off drugs once the areas for which they are taking drugs have improved and healed. This, of course, is a decision solely between patient and physician, though my clinical observation is that most clients are keening interested in improving their health and being drug free.
Drugs (Over-the Counter (OTC) - Herbs, Homeopathics and Whole Food Supplements are safer and more effective, without side effects. Clients are coached in using them for First-Aide and Acute Home needs in lieu of OTC drugs. Chemicals in drugs deplete the body of nutrients and are toxic to cells and tissue. Once clients become aware of how to use them, they are able to correct these factors affecting blood pressures.
Hereditary Factors - read below the section on "Causes of All Illnesses and Diseases," for our approach to hereditary factors.
Other Factors - Testing nutritional biochemistry will also identify other factors affecting blood pressure balance, not mentioned in this article.

Dr. Smith's Perspective on Medicine (right) and
Priorities for Public Education (below)
Unfortunately, public health education in the 20th Century was void of information about safe and effective herbs, homeopathics and whole food supplements and focused, instead, on drugs and surgery only.
Even the 21st Century public education is focusing more on taking "isolated and synthetic" supplements, instead of whole food supplements AND neglecting to prioritize Public Education emphasizing FIRST - have your biochemistry tested for what you actually need before, SECOND, taking any supplement.
Dr. Smith does not provide advice on drug therapy. As our clients experience healing in the areas for which they are currently taking drugs, clients work with their physicians to wean themselves off drugs once no longer needed.
| Dr. Smith is very supportive of medical treatments (drugs and surgery) when used in true life-threatening emergencies, such as the following two circumstances:
1) to cast broken bones, suture open wounds, stabilizing vital conditions, etc., when someone has been injured by accident, abuse or assault, or war). This may include "true" hereditary factors. However, Dr. Smith has assisted many clients in healing areas of the body that had been medically-diagnosed as "not being able to heal because of hereditary factors" when drugs failed to suppress symptoms in the area(s).
2) when a person has been neglectful (either purposely or due to lack of education) in what the body requires to repair, heal and regenerate healthy cells and tissues to restore and maintain health. Therefore, by their own lifestyle practices created disease in an organ or gland, which requires the surgical removal of that diseased organ/gland to help them live a while longer.
HOWEVER, to take drugs after a person has recovered from the injury or surgery (#1 and #2 above) OR to take drugs on a daily basis for any reason is not, generally, in the patient's best interest. Why?
1) Drug Side Effects - Drug Side Effects are the symptoms of the vitamin and other nutrient deficiencies caused by the chemicals in drugs. In time these deficiencies become future diseases in organ/glands experiencing the deficiencies. When only medical treatment is provided, more drugs are prescribed to suppress the symptoms of the side effects and, in time, surgery is required to remove the organs and glands that have been destroyed/diseased due to long-term drug intake.
2) Chemicals in drugs are toxic (poisonous) to the cells and tissues of the human mind and body, which means in due time they damage and destroy cells and tissue, interfere with human biochemical and bio-electrical processes/balance, and healthy organ, gland and body system function. 3) There are safe and effective whole food supplements, herbs and homeopathics, which correct the adverse effects (nutrient deficiencies and toxicity) of the causes (lifestyle and dietary practices and exposures) of all illnesses and diseases. Symptoms leave because these nutrients assist the body in repairing, healing and regenerating new health cells to restore and maintain health by "detoxifying chemicals and other poisons or waste from the cells and tissue and re-nourishing them with the nutrients they require to repair, heal, etc. Whereas, Drugs and Synthetic and Isolated Vitamin/Mineral Supplements suppress symptoms by manipulating biochemistry and the nervous system.
Our mission at Advanced Clinical Nutrition is to provide the education, biochemical testing, and therapy through whole food supplementation and food chemistry dietary plans to correct the causes and effects so each client can restore their health and maintain their health for the rest of their lives.
