Share Your Christmas  Spirit

with the Children of the Incarcerated

    The Annual "Friends Outside" when
  AOH Volunteers help the
Saint Vincent de Paul Society IS SET FOR DECEMBER 19.
Each year a Christmas Party for the Children of the incarcerated is
hosted by St. Vincent de Paul staff. Children of the incarcerated are
treated kindly to gifts and Christmas good cheer with the support of the
public and members of the AOH in Orange County.
For the past few years AOH volunteers have taken the time, effort and

Christmas  Spirit to make a Happy Holiday for these needy children,
who have one  or sometimes both of their parents in jail or prison.

This years' event will  take place on Saturday, December 19th at the
Phoenix Club, 1340 South Sanderson  Avenue, Anaheim, California.

Lunch will be served  to approximately  1000 children with the food
  being provided by Frank
Garcia of Casa  Garcia Restaurant in
Anaheim. The United  States Marines will
supply a nice toy for each
child through their Toys for Tots  Program.  Santa
Claus will also be there
to present the Christmas gifts to these  deserving
children.

Jerry O'Keefe: 714 998-9590 or 714-403-3681
   or by  e-mail at: Irishfree1916@aol.com.

Volunteers are also needed as  early as 8:30 AM to help set up booths
and decorations. For those who can spare a few hours for the kids, you
will walk away with a sense of the true Christmas Spirit.
If you are busy to the attend, a Toy Drive for the children is underway.
Call Jerry O'Keefe listed above or drop off a toy at one of the many
Toys  For Tots collection points throughout Orange County.
Father Michael Hanifin  of Santa Clara de Asis Parish and John Welter,

HUGH LEHANE...

Irish Hugh Irish Hugh                    Photo by E. Knuff

Irish Hugh Lehane is great!
He is hard working,

a very nice individual and a wonderful family man and
Oh Yeah...he is a great Musician who happens to be from Ireland!
Hugh Lehane embodies all of the positive
Irish Stereotypes;
a great talker and storyteller,
grand singer
and a talented musician.
He plays a multitude of musical instruments and he has
a gift for
bonding with his audience.
Irish Hugh played the AOH/LA Divisions and
Irish News & Entertainment's joint Christmas Party one
year and it was one of the most fun-filled and high energy performances we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy.
Here is a sampling of reviews and endorsement that we
found on the internet.

REVIEW OF HUGH'S CD 'NEVER BEEN BEFORE' : "Hugh sings in a style which is ideally suited to delivering confessional songs that probe the deepest reaches of his soul" "The hauntingly beautiful 'Demons' and expressive
'If I could (tonight)' are among the most stirring songs
on this strong disc."
Robert Kinsler - O.C. Register

"Talented singer/songwriter...multi-instrumentalist.." who writes, "original melodic-with-an-edge songs of love and
love lost"

Dave Soyars - Irish Herald

Outstanding! Songs with passion and drive. A must have.
The cd never gives up. The songs are heartfelt, novel and have a passion not heard in "commercial" releases. From strains
of tender love to the anguish of inner stuggle, Hugh involves the listener and leaves him begging for more. Hopefully the live shows will continue and more releases will follow.
This one is in my must have collection.

David Copley - The Auld Dubliner

VINTAGE MULLIGANS

Collector's Item Series from Soundboard TV
The Mulligans play a wide variety of music, ranging from Irish Traditional to Country to the standards and even some good old American Rock n' Roll!  Fans are genuinely both impressed and surprised when they switch from Irish to Rock with such ease and mastery of the music.

We recently heard about this great DVD of 11 Classic Songs by THE MULLIGANS and KEN O"MALLEY.
The Mulligans have always had great talent play with them including one of the best Irish singer/songwriters around, Ken O'Malley.  O'Malley is featured on this DVD. Through the years they have played with many of the
Irish greats including The Irish Rovers and Chieftains.
For the past few years the Mulligans have been the headliners at the LA County Fair Irish Fair at Fairplex as well as select pub dates and concerts.

WELLS OF LIFE
Last week we profiled Nick Jordan and Wells of Life,
a 501C3 Non Profit Foundation, as our First Feature.
We have spoken to Nick Jordan, the co-founder of
Wells of Life, again since we published that small story
and he gave us a great challenge and goal for
our
Weekly Irish E-Missive Readers and Friends of the
Irish News & Entertainment.Nick and Children
Nick  Jordan and Children in Uganda

Jordan suggested that we try to raise the money through this service to drill and dedicate an
IRISH NEWS USA READERS WELL in Uganda.
We are ready for the challenge. We have made this our Christmas Project. The program is an astonishing bargain. A well to reach precious water and to change the lives of hundreds of people costs $3000. The foundation has a matching funds program with one of their corporate sponsors so that our advertisers, readers and staff can act together to raise just $1500 and we will be able to help drill a specific well in Uganda. By "specific" we mean that a
particular  well will be dedicated to our efforts and it will be known as the IRISH NEWS USA READERS WELL.
Your donation is tax deductible. It is Christmas and it is near the end of the year. It is a perfect time to do this.
We need your help. Wells of Life has set up a separate account to track all donations from us or our readers.
Please mention that you are part of the Irish News USA Readers Group.
Make a check to WELLS OF LIFE for any amount from
$25. or more and send it to:
