From the Interim Rector Dear ,
Once we thought Christian unity meant all Christians should be organized into one big church. Today's approach is summed up in a Latin phrase, "In necessariis unitas, in dubiis libertas, in omnibus caritas" commonly translated as "unity in necessary things; liberty in doubtful things; charity in all things." Remember that the deadline for submitting applications for consideration for service on the Rector Nominating Committee is 5:00 p.m. on February 1. More information and the application form are available HERE.
I'll see you in church!

30 Hours Can Change the World
Imagine if it didn't rain for months or even years. Imagine if almost all your crops withered and you had no other way to get food. Welcome to Langelihle's world. "My name is Langelihle. I'm 9. I live in Southern Africa. And I know what hunger feels like. My dad, Mathwel, says hunger steals so much that it makes you 'thin on the inside.' He used to walk 35 miles to find food for us. Sometimes he was gone for four days. My brother is 12. Hunger stole his joy. My mother, Simangele, sometimes got so hungry she couldn't work. My brother who is 11 left school because school was too hard when he was hungry. His classmates sometimes passed out during lessons because they hadn't eaten either." The 30 Hour Famine takes place at Good Shepherd March 4-6. Contact Deacon Lauren for more information. |
