THE COLLECT FOR SUNDAY O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
NEW The Episcopal Church has introduced a great new site for studying the weekly lectionary readings. CLICK HERE to check it out. You'll find all the readings along with background and commentary, and there's an opportunity to add your own comments as well. |

The Mosaic That Shows Us the Face of God A mosaic consists of thousands of little stones. Some are blue, some are green, some are yellow, some are gold. When we bring our faces close to the mosaic, we can admire the beauty of each stone. But as we step back from it, we can see that all these little stones reveal to us a beautiful picture, telling a story none of these stones can tell by itself.
That is what our life in community is about. Each of us is like a little stone, but together we reveal the face of God to the world. Nobody can say: "I make God visible." But others who see us together can say: "They make God visible." Community is where humility and glory touch.

RESERVE YOUR SEATS TODAY! SHAKESPEARE'S WEDDING MANIA AT BOSCOBEL
SUNDAY, JUNE 27 AT 6:00pm
The Fellowship Commission is delighted to begin taking reservations Sunday for another of Shakespeare's witty comedies, The Taming of the Shrew. Baptista has two daughters who need to be married off: Bianca, beautiful and docile, and Katherina, renowned for her sharp tongue and temper. As the oldest, Katherina must marry first even though she has vowed never to wed. Enter the flamboyant Petruchio who agrees to marry Kate sight-unseen when he learns of her sizeable dowry. Will he succeed in curing Kate of her quick-witted, scolding tongue, or will she prove his perfect match? Please join our Grace family and friends for this quintessential battle-of-the-sexes. We have 50 seats reserved @ $32 per ticket for the Sunday, June 27 performance at 6:00pm. As usual, picnicking overlooking the Hudson is optional beginning at 4:00pm, weather permitting. Don't tarry, say YES today, or you might miss an hilarious start to summer. Any questions? Ready to make reservations? Contact Barbara Cross during coffee hour or @ 358-4599 or send an e-mail to babcross@aol.com. You may also call the church office to reserve, (358-4599, ext. 10) then write a check ($32.00 per ticket) to Grace Episcopal Church (with Shakespeare on memo line), hand it in or mail to the church office. See you there! Barbara Cross

CONFIRMATION REDUX: AN ALL-PARISH REFRESHER COURSE
BEGINS THIS SUNDAY WITH PARISH FORUM ON ANGLICAN/EPISCOPAL HISTORY
Whether one was confirmed 50 years ago or 5 years ago or is just now considering joining the Episcopal Church - all of us need to review the basics from time to time. Come join in with the rest of your parish community as we prepare to corporately renew our Baptismal Covenant during the Bishop's visit to Grace Church on June 6. From April 25 through May 23 the All Parish Forums (10:10-10:50am each Sunday) will be dedicated to the exploration (and explanation) of Anglican/Episcopal history (April 25), our view of scripture and ministry, our unique styles of spirituality, and our rich tradition of liturgy and music. All are invited and encouraged to attend! A note to those considering confirmation, reception or reaffirmation in the Episcopal Church: This series is part of the Adult Confirmation Course for this year. If you wish to be baptized, confirmed, received, or to reaffirm your vows or are even contemplating one of these actions, this class is for you. Please contact the clergy to let them know of your interest and they will be happy to talk with you about these steps which take place at the Bishop's visit once each year. |

Poem: "o sweet spontaneous," by E. E. Cummings, from 100 Selected Poems (Grove Weidenfeld).
o sweet spontaneous
O sweet spontaneous earth how often have the doting
fingers of prurient philosophers pinched and poked
thee ,has the naughty thumb of science prodded thy
beauty how often have religions taken thee upon their scraggy knees squeezing and
buffeting thee that thou mightest conceive gods (but true to the incomparable couch of death thy rhythmic lover
thou answerest
them only with
spring) |
