Wanted: Photographs of Worship in your parishes (and elsewhere)
The June issue of the Episcopal New Yorker will have worship as its theme.
The editor is looking to put together a collection of images to show the diversity of our worship. Photos need to be high resolution to make it into print, but good lower resolution photos will also be welcome for inclusion on the website and the Diocesan Flickr page. Please include appropriate descriptions and photo credits. Photos do not need to be dramatic!
|
Read Reviews Online ~ Further Reviews Wanted!
As an extension of the review section of the Episcopal New Yorker, we've recently created a page on the diocesan website dedicated to reviews - art, theater, music, movies, tv, books, video games(?!), and anything else that comes to mind that is in some way connected to Christianity, religious thought, or the practice of religion.
The section currently features excellent pieces by Pamela Lewis on two exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum: the magnificent Belles Heures of the Duc de Berry, and "The Mourners," a collection of extraordinary sculptures from the Tomb
of Duke John the Fearless and his wife Margaret of Bavaria from the Musée des
Beaux-Arts in Dijon.
We are keen to add more reviews and welcome suggestions. Please contact the editor at eny@dioceseny.org - 212.316.7520 - if you are interested and would like to discuss a possible topic.

Luna's Life: a Journey of forgiveness and Triumph Hosted by The Rev.William McD. Tully
| Sunday, May 2, 10 a.m. St. Bartholomew Church, 325 Park Ave
At 83, Luna Kaufman, a Holocaust survivor from Krakow, Poland, defies convention in every aspect of her life. Having come to terms with her WWII experiences, she is a tireless champion of Jewish-Christian understanding and is dedicated to the progress of religious and human rights. Last year she received an Honorary Doctorate from Seton Hall University and wrote the book, "Luna's Life." The book documents Luna's varied achievements as the first female president of Temple Shalom, as an active member of the League of Women Voters, as an Olympics Coordinator, as the producer of the opera "Fredrick Douglass" and presently as the chair of the Sister Thering Rose Endowment in Judeo-Christian education. It also looks at her life as wife, a mother of 3, and a grandmother of 6. The book is described by Rabbi Irving Greenberg, Chair Emeritus of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, as "A beautiful portrait of a quietly heroic life."
