ST PETE TMEW
Calvary Chapel St. Pete's "The Most Excellent Way" certainly caught the vision, and then some!  A few months ago, Dustin Marr of their media ministry called to ask if he could use the TMEW logo in their ministry video.  We agreed, with the condition they provide the link to the complete video.  WOW!  Dustin and his team are talented and gifted!
They certainly surprised and blessed us!

We encourage you to visit their site and explore the audio and print resources available to encourage you in your spiritual growth and walk with Jesus, and in your ministry.  In a time when there are so many worldly philosophies permeating the Church, it is very heartening for us to see another TMEW ministry strictly adhering to the Word of God.
You'll discover teachings on the Attitudes for Victorious Living by Scott Rodriguez, Ministry Leader (Submission, Obedience, Reconciliation, Childlike Humility, Mercy, Perserverance and Faith), and special topics and testimonies.

Hello!
It's been quite awhile since our last newsletter, but we haven't been slacking off in ministry.  The Lord continues to grow "The Most Excellent Way," keeping us busy. Does anyone in ministry ever "catch up"?  And then there are new inspirations for how to serve more effectively and efficiently.

We're currently working toward publishing a second website, which is no small fete for a couple of technically challenged old seniors.  Our plans include making ministry resources (brochures, flyers and articles) available in downloadable .pdf files ... please scroll down (lefthand column) and click the available titles.

We thank TMEW at Calvary Chapel St. Petersburg ... they have stimulated and confirmed our resolve to make God-honoring material more available on the internet. It's our hope and prayer we can flood the search engines with key words which will increase TMEW visibility ... providing those who are truly seeking Christian solutions to addictions with Biblical answers and guidance.

In the meantime, we continue to praise God for the privilege and blessing to serve Him and those in bondage to addictions with love, acceptance and forgiveness.  After all, it's all about Jesus!

OUR MISSION
Jesus said:  "...you shall receive power when the Love LogoHoly Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in JERUSALEM, and in all JUDEA and SAMARIA, and to THE END OF THE EARTH."
Acts 1:8 NKJV

JERUSALEM
San Diego, CA ~ 2008 Leadership Conference
We're bringing "The Most Excellent Way" Conference and Training Workshops Love Logoto you!  Horizon Christian Fellowship's media ministry surprised and blessed us by volunteering to record the entire conference.  The two-day conference is now available on DVD and individual workshop CDs.  The workshop outlines are included in the price.  See Media Resource Order Form here.

Our theme, "Catching and Casting the Vision," and our purpose, "Building confidence in the sufficiency and power of God's Word for ministry ...",  provided "Biblical encouragement and training for those called to minister to those in bondage to drugs, alcohol and other addictions, and their families, to 'Become GOD-Dependent'."

Comments by attendees prove to us that teaching the Word of God will always bring good results.

"We loved every minute of it. Thank you!"  ~Pastor B
"Excellent speakers with a wide background of experience." ~KM

JUDEA AND SUMARIA
Pensacola, FL ~ Eddie Echarri ~ 1958-2008
Let us who knew and loved Eddie remember his tireless dedication to sharing Jesus with those imprisoned by their addictions.  As a Love Logotrue disciple of Christ, Eddie dedicated his life to serving Him and the Church at Olive Baptist, and as Area Directory for "The Most Excellent Way" for nearly 15 years.  Eddie's testimony is confirmation of the power of God's transforming love, acceptance and forgiveness.

When we consider Eddie's changed life in Christ, we're reminded of Saul becoming Paul ... sinner becoming saint ... addict becoming Pastor of Outreach Ministries at Olive.   What an example he is to us all!

Please join us in prayer for Eddie's beloved wife, Shawn ...
that our Lord Jesus will comfort her and fill the void in her life
with Himself, bringing her peace and contentment.

"When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had
already been a long time in that condition, He said to him,
"Do you wish to get well?"  John 5:6 NASB

"I first laid eyes on him in May of 1999 in the chapel at the Escambia County Jail. It was the first chapel service for women and he would bring the message. I had never been in jail before and had no idea how this experience would change my life forever.

"He shared how he landed in Pensacola as a $400-a-day heroin junkie. He had spent time in New York State Prison as well as Sing Sing and Ryker's Island. He was a Puerto Rican from the Bronx ... it showed. Running from a past that included driving for a well-known crime boss in New York City, he decided to make a geographical change and to kick this thing cold-turkey. He did.

"And now here he was some years later telling his story to others.
He talked to the women in jail about this verse in John. And he asked if anyone else wanted to be well?? He asked if anyone else wanted forgiveness, or redemption or to start over. Start over? I was now completely intrigued. And of course I would love to be forgiven for all the wrong I had done to loved ones over the course of my addiction. But how could this possibly happen? They were not even speaking to me.

"I raised my hand. That is how it all began. He prayed with me, asked me to repeat a prayer with him and handed me a Bible.
A hundred and eighty three days later, they opened the jail doors and let me out.  I was a different person.  I had read the New Testament twice and many of the Old Testament stories over and over again.  And now almost ten years later I am President of the actual ministry that afforded me the opportunity to hear his story on that 19th day of May in 1999.

"The man Jesus spoke to had been sick and on his mat for 38 years. I too had been sick for a long time. How long have you been on your mat??  It might not be an addiction. Perhaps it's bitterness or unforgiveness.  Or maybe your mat that keeps you away from healing waters is your lust for fleshly things or money.  Whatever it is, Jesus has just one question for you, 'Do you wish to get well?'"

Dedicated to my good friend,
Donna Alexander, TMEW Ministry Leader
Myrtle Grove Baptist Church
THE END OF THE EARTH
Nepal & India

NEPAL ~Many pastors have told me that The Most Excellent Way is the only substance abuse program conducted in Nepal.  In 2008, nearly 200 pastors and church leaders attended one-day training classes in conducting TMEW group meetings.
There are many meetings being held in remote villages.  Mitra is coordinating all TMEW activities in Nepal, but because of the lack of communication between the remote villages, the number of meetings cannot be determined without him visiting those areas.
He does not have the funds
required to visit all Love Logomeetings.
In the main city of Kathmandu, there are seven weekly meetings. In addition, four literacy classes being coordinated by Mitra's wife, Geeta. The classes are for family members of alcoholics, and even some of the alcoholics attend in addition to regular attendance at TMEW meetings.  The "students" are all Hindus, who have never heard about Jesus or seen a Bible.
Teaching material includes basic Scripture topics and Bible stories.  TMEW is instrumental in bringing literacy and evangelism to Nepal. TMEW is received with great enthusiasm. We are hoping to expand whenever God provides more funds.

INDIA ~ The Most Excellent Way is operating in several cities of India. In Bangalore, I conducted group leadership training for 50 members of Ebenezer Church, and there are now several TMEW meetings being held -- both for alcoholics and wives of alcoholics.  One assistant pastor and an elder are working nearly full-time on establishing a satellite-church in the suburbs of Bangalor that will be primarily for alcoholics and families.  Also in Bangalore, the Gerizim Rehabilitation Center has been supportive of TMEW.  Through their contacts, I have been able to provide TMEW training and information to many groups.  Shoba, a social-work trained lady, is conducting weekly TMEW meetings for wives of alcoholics in a slum area of Bangalore.
Love LogoIn Kurnool, one TMEW group meeting is being conducted.
In the very Southern part of India, in the city of Madurai, two pastors are conducting weekly meetings.
In the more remote and smaller Southern city of Gurupura, there are nine pastors taking TMEW to villages each week. Much farther away, in the most Northeastern area -- Nagaland -- a young pastor is conducting
weekly meetings.

In Sangli, Maharashtra State, Pastor Treveli conducts meetings on an irregular basis because of severe persecution by Hindus.
In the City of Dharmapuri, I conducted TMEW leadership training for 47 church leaders/ pastors/wives,resulting in the first meeting there.
All the necessary material needed to conduct TMEW meetings has been translated into the following Indian and Nepalese languages:  Nepalese, Tamil,  Kannada  and Telugu -- 1,000 copies in each language have been printed and are being distributed as leaders are developed and to other interested people.  It would be wonderful to have an Indian person coordinating TMEW from India, but that would require funds for a salary.  Most ministries headquartered in USA have Indian coordinators, and perhaps one day that will be possible for us. Read more and view photos
