CACP Initiatives
2010 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games
The 2010 Special Olympics Summer Games were hosted by London Police Service in London, Ontario, July 13 - 15, 2010. Approximately 1400 athletes competed in swimming, softball, soccer, bowling, power lifting, rhythmic gymnastics and athletic events. The athletes were supported by parents, coaches, care workers, sponsors and law enforcement torch run (LETR) participants. Chief William Blair spoke on behalf of the CACP and the CACP Executive Director was present to issue medals.
Congratulations to Chief Murray Faulkner and the London Police Service personnel for an outstanding event, and to all the athletes who competed.
CACP Members on the Move
Chief Jack Ewatski (Rtd): Congratulations to Chief Jack Ewatski (Rtd) on his appointment as Deputy Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago. The new Commissioner of Police for Trinidad is also a Canadian, Dwayne Gillis, a former superintendent of the Edmonton Police Service.
Deputy Chief Sue O'Sullivan: Congratulations is extended to D/Chief Sue O'Sullivan on her appointment as Federal Ombudsmen for Victims of Crime. On June 21, 2010, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, announced Sue's new position. Her appointment is effective August 16, 2010. Sue's retirement farewell is scheduled for September 16, 2010, in Ottawa, Ontario.
Deputy Commissioner Chris Lewis: Congratulations on being appointed the Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police. Deputy Commissioner Lewis' appointment takes effect August 1, 2010. Commissioner Fantino retires after 4 years as Commissioner of the OPP.
Deputy Chief Mark Neelin: Congratulations to D/Chief Neelin of Barrie Police Service, Ontario, who has been appointed Chief of Police. He replaces Chief Wayne Frechette.
Deputy Chief Brad Duncan: D/Chief Duncan of London Police Service, Ontario, has been appointed Chief of Police. He replaces Chief Murray Faulkner. Congratulations!
Chief Kevin McAlpine: Congratulations to Chief McAlpine, former Chief of Durham Regional Police Service and Peterborough Community Police, Ontario, on his appointment as Chief of Port Hope Police Service.

The CACP Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for Wednesday August 25, 2010 at 13:30 hrs.
CACP Committee meetings are scheduled from Thursday August 19 to Saturday August 21. The CACP Executive will meet on Friday August 20 and the Board of Directors on Saturday, August 21. The first Annual CACP Golf Tournament is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 22, with a shotgun start at 7:30 AM.
CACP Special Purpose Association Meeting
On Friday, July 23, 2010, the National Office announced to the membership of a Special Purpose Meeting of the Association scheduled for Monday, August 23, 2010, at 13:30 hrs, during the Annual Conference. The Secretary Treasurer has called the meeting to address proposed motions to amend the Constitution and vote upon a resolution addressing the National Firearms Policing Strategy.
