Inside and Out - Multi-Million Dollar Renovations Program

Combines History, Technology, Comfort and Value

At Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center

GLEN ALLEN, VA, July 12, 2012---A multi-million dollar renovation of interior and exterior space brings one of the Mid Atlantic region's most prominent meeting venues to new heights of productivity, professionalism and value. The Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center in Glen Allen, Virginia, committed over $3 million to providing state-of-the-art technology in its dedicated conference center. The renovation includes lobbies, restaurants, meeting and function space, and adding new gardens, reception areas and recreational facilities. Plans are underway for renovation of all 183 guestrooms and suites, to be completed in 2013.

Its purpose-built, IACC-approved conference facilities are 21st century, designed "to produce maximum results," according to General Manager Bob Nelson. Nelson was recently honored with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts General Manager of the Year Award for 2011. He and his staff are committed to providing everything needed for a productive, cost-effective meeting.

In today's business environment, meeting planners are under intense scrutiny to produce results. "A significant amount of time and money is lost because of badly planned and poorly executed meetings," Nelson says. He and his staff have earned a reputation for providing a unique setting with excellent technical facilities, and one of the region's most experienced and professional staffs that can assist with every aspect of conference and event planning. "Our customers are very loyal because we make them look very, very good," says Nelson.

Set on 20 landscaped acres that reflect the grace and charm of Old Virginia, the recently renovated Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center features a fast and efficient digital infrastructure to power meetings and events to their optimum potential.

The renovations are a perfect blending of classic and contemporary design, combining the most advanced technology and ergonomics within a serene and secure setting. Sequestered behind stately brick walls, the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center recalls a college campus or private estate. Guests pass through a wrought-iron gate, up a tree-lined drive to the hilltop, where the property overlooks the woodlands of Virginia and the greens of the Crossings Golf Club.

The newly renovated restaurants and reception areas accommodate an array of corporate and private events indoors and out. Major meetings, gala receptions, private dinners, exclusive executive retreats and team building exercises can be organized, supported by a professional staff and a complete range of business and technical services. The Tavern Restaurant

The Tavern has a fresh look with new furniture, lighting and games.  A spacious deck and fire pit were added, providing an outdoor gathering spot overlooking the grounds.

The Tavern is named after the historic Yellow Tavern that occupied the site of the

Civil War battleground where the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center now stands. Today, groups can gather after meetings to enjoy a new bar and grill offering high top, table and booth seating. A pool table and Digital Kinect game area provide diversions. An expansive new deck with a communal fire-pit overlooks the swimming pool and grounds. The Tavern provides one of the few outdoor dining options in the Richmond area. .

A new marker has been added to commemorate the historic Battle of the Yellow Tavern in which Confederate General JEB Stuart perished. A Civil War cannon will soon be placed in front of the Tavern. Several of the South's most famous Civil War Battlefields are nearby. Virginia is currently marking the Civil War Sesquicentennial- a four-year, event-filled commemoration of the war and its impact on ordinary Americans as well as military heroes.

Richmond's Only Outdoor Hotel Space Gets Even Better

The green lawns and surrounding countryside offer many opportunities for

recreation, team building exercises, outdoor receptions, wedding ceremonies, and an

Jeffersonian Influence

Although built in the 1980s as headquarters for Figgie International, Inc., the architecture of the central Jefferson Building is reminiscent of Thomas Jefferson's legendary home, Monticello. President, statesman, architect, musician and inventor, Jefferson was also a master gardener. Notes Bob Nelson, "We honored Jefferson's love of horticulture by replicating his beloved gardens at Monticello with their oval beds and winding flower paths. As guests enjoy this serene sanctuary, they'll know that when the Moon Beams, Frosty Fires and Blue Cadets are blossoming at Monticello, are blossoming here at

Jefferson Gardens." The gardens provide a spot for a small group to gather to work, relax or

entertain.

Inside, the Jeffersonian influence continues with the newly refurbished

Jefferson Lobby, with its marbled reception area, sweeping staircase and new

furnishings.

The Jefferson Sitting Room (above) is painted Monticello Yellow. This intense and vibrant yellow was recently found to be Jefferson's original choice for his dining room (right) which was, for years after his death, repainted a traditional Wedgwood Blue. Ralph Lauren Paints has reproduced this stunning color.

The Madison Lobby in the adjacent Madison Building is refurbished in an understated Victorian style; the fireplace framed in green velvet and set off by Victorian balloon chairs.

The Eagle Has Landed

Eagle has landed The new renovations at the Wyndham Virginia Crossings Hotel & Conference Center are truly top-to-bottom. In June, 2012, the 3,000 pound  Liberty Golden Eagle atop the Jefferson Building was taken down and its 24k gold plating restored. The eagle was then hoisted back to its perch, in re-christening ceremonies attended by local officials, residents, and the Wyndham staff.
