Dean Steve Crosby Picture    Message from the Dean

Dear Colleagues:

Last night the Moakley Chair, Padraig O'Malley, gave a remarkable lecture at the Kennedy Library about his efforts to promote peace and reconciliation in Iraq.  For the first time, we will post the entire Moakley Lecture video on our website.  Look for it on Monday and I hope you will share it with your friends.  It is an extraordinary learning experience about the realities of Iraq, far different from the pabulum the Bush Administration has been promoting.

As the school year winds down, I will be turning to you for your help as we begin to prepare for another year.  You'll soon be receiving the first ever solicitation for the McCormack Graduate School Annual Fund, raising money for student and faculty support and for special projects in the Dean's Office.  Any contribution you can make will be deeply appreciated.  Donate now by clicking here and selecting the McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies.

On May 23rd, at 8:00 AM, joined by Governor Patrick and Mayor Menino, we will be launching the Commonwealth Compact, perhaps the most ambitious effort ever to rid our community of its reputation for a lack of tolerance and inclusion.  No other place in Massachusetts stands more proudly for diversity than UMass Boston; please join us as we try to extend this image to the entire Commonwealth.

Go Celtics.
