FTC Delays Red Flag Rules Again

Are you prepared for the Red Flag Rules? Although the effective date of these new rules continues to be delayed, it is recommended to prepare your policies and procedures. The original implementation date for the Rules was over a year ago, November 1, 2008. However the FTC continually pushes back the rollout date, from May 1, 2009 to August 1, 2009 and then to November 1, 2009. They have yet again delayed the enforcement of these Rules until June 1, 2010.

IMPORTANT ALERT for All
 Ambulance Providers:

CMS Revalidation Letters

You may have heard that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) have begun a revalidation protocol wherein a one-time "revalidation application" will be mailed to a select number of ambulance providers at their practice locations.

While you may not be one of the selected providers receiving a validation letter, you will have no way of knowing that.  Therefore, it is critical that you monitor all mail received and take immediate action if a letter is received.

moving ambulanceIf you receive a letter, CMS requires that you return it with the completed information within 60 calendar days.  If this revalidation letter is not received by 60 days, your billing privileges will be revoked and you will be barred from the Medicare program for 1 year. Again, you may not receive anything, and that is fine.  No action is required if you do not receive a revalidation application.

Sincerely,
