As part of Cornerstone's ongoing effort to provide their clients with superior cash flow through billing and the latest technology, IT Services has been added to the menu of available consulting services offered by Cornerstone. The success at Cornerstone relies heavily on information technology and on the systems and processes which they are continually building and improving. It seemed only logical for Cornerstone to share the experience and knowledge they have gained over the years with their valued clients. The first client to take advantage of Cornerstone's IT Services was Special Event EMS, Inc. (SEEMS) in Carlisle, PA. President, Tom Alleman, had five computers at his facility, but they were stand-alone machines that were not networked together. This made it difficult to share information throughout his organization. Interested in the benefits of resource sharing and scalability offered by a client/server network, and having confidence in Cornerstone's abilities, Tom decided to bring in Cornerstone's IT specialists to perform his network installation.  Michael McIver, Cornerstone's IT Manager and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), recommended a network plan for SEEMS based on their goals and the rapid growth they have experienced with their business. Cornerstone went onsite to SEEMS' facility to install and configure the server, reconfigure the workstations, join them to the network, establish the shared network resources and set up the forty users for access behind a secure firewall. For protection in the event of a disaster, Cornerstone set up a backup process that writes to an external disk so that SEEMS can store copies of their data off site. The network was also configured to allow President, Tom Alleman, to securely log into his system remotely from any location that has an Internet connection. The project was a success! Having a client/server network is allowing Tom and the SEEMS' employees to more efficiently manage operations, share information and continue to grow their business.
