The MUUSJA Connection

Minnesota Unitarian Universalist Social Justice Alliance

November 1, 2011

Greetings!

We have a few spots still open for you to join our Appreciative Inquiry: How Will Minnesota UUs bring Justice? event on November 5th. You can reserve your spot (and your turkey or vegetarian lunch) via this quick and easy RSVP form, or by calling us at 612-998-6624. Join the forty plus UU activists who've said yes to this gathering! We are also taking our Appreciative Inquiry to Duluth and Willmar in the weeks ahead, so join us at one of these great events!

There are two upcoming opportunities for UUs to connect to the work for marriage equally. We urge you to attend an excellent story-based training next Monday for talking to family and friends about why you support equality and oppose the anti-marriage amendment. And we're organizing UUs to work across our congregations, so please join us in person or by web or phone conference on November 13th.

There's more in store. Scroll down for all the details. We look forward to seeing you soon!

UUs FOR MARRIAGE EQUALITY

Faith-Based Strategic Storytelling for the Minnesota Marriage Moment

Monday, November 7th, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
700 Snelling Ave. S., St. Paul, MN

Strategic storytelling is one of the most powerful methods of faith-based community organizing. It is the linchpin of efforts to help the "movable middle" to understand how marriage matters to same-sex couples and to all of us as families and as faith communities. Participants will learn to: Janne Eller-Isaacs marries two
* put faces on abstract concepts, making them personal
* begin new relationships
* communicate values through emotions
* teach, inspire, and motivate others to action

This event is designed for members of ALL faith communities. Even if you've already been trained in storytelling, please consider participating. You'll have further opportunity to practice, and will be focused specifically toward defeating the anti-LGBT marriage amendment.
Free event, but please RSVP to Lissa Messner: lissam@lcna.org / 651-665-0861
