Weekend lane closures planned for Davis Hwy and Fairfield Drive Construction work this weekend will require lane closures near the Davis Highway-Fairfield Drive intersection. The intersection is being reconstructed as part of the Interstate 110 improvement project.
Fairfield Drive westbound will be closed at the Davis Highway intersection from Friday evening, October 17, 2008 at 7 p.m. through Monday, October 20 at 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured at Ninth Avenue to Texar Drive.
In addition, Fairfield Drive eastbound and Davis Highway, north and southbound, will be restricted to one lane near the intersection. Plans are to complete the construction work and re-open all lanes by Monday, October 20, 2008 at 6 a.m.
Improving traffic flow and relieving congestion at the Davis Highway and Fairfield Drive interchanges are major goals of the I-110 improvement project. The work also includes widening I-110 to six lanes between the Airport Boulevard overpass and Maxwell Street. The $58 million construction initiative began in 2004 and is slated for completion in early 2009. |
