As a direct result of a Think Week brainstorm, a Kanban workshop is now on the calendar for every other Friday at 11am, starting January 27th! Gary Knopp, a new Xpat this month, explained how Kanban means 'ticket' in Japanese (or card). He described how cards showing tasks (or yellow stickies, in our case) get pulled according to the readiness of the task and the abilities and availability of someone to perform the task. He is passionate about being part of a Kanban learning group, and has facilitated them for a number of years. He says that almost any business problem can be visualized using Kanban, and he expects that our new group will dive into many "root cause analysis" discussions to eliminate bottlenecks and inefficiencies as we learn to apply this simple, elegant system to our own work. Business Skills Coaching Brown Bag

 

At noon on Tuesday Jan. 17, Elaine Jones from Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is offering her list of favorite "No-cost/low-cost resources for small businesses" and will lead a discussion on shoestring marketing. Before you spend on a consultant, be sure you are ready to get your money's worth, OR if you just can't afford expensive help, there are resources that don't require a major budget. Bring your small business challenges and you could get some direct free coaching! RSVP.

FREE Computer Support Office Hours

  

Having computer problems? Bring it in!
Rumor has it that Jason has helped some members buy laptops, copy files from old to new laptops, and install upgrades or run diagnostics on slow computers. He can help protect your computer from viruses, or do his best to fix the ones that get you anyway. He can even help with that server you have running in your garage (doesn't everyone have a server in their garage?). Now you can get FREE computer support from Jason, our in-house IT guy:

Computer Support Office Hours (T 11-12) Starting this week, Jason will be holding office hours weekly on Tuesdays from 11-12. First come, first served. Bring your laptop; you may get advice, or you may get a pile of screws. But you could get lucky. (PC only).

Ignite Bainbridge is off and running with new web site!

 

Ignite Bainbridge"Enlighten us, but make it quick." We had a great turnout to kick off the monthly workshops that will help us all learn this 5 minute presentation format. If you missed it, check out the new web site for links to fun Ignite videos or to submit your idea for our performance in May, or just join us at the next "2nd Wednesday" workshop on Feb. 8, 1pm. Thanks to Beth Robson for her leadership, but many people took on tasks and offered ideas to make things happen.

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? 
Get work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host six people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype video conference.  
 
  • 3 days/month (Basic)  $69
  • 5 days/month  $105
  • 10 days/month  $180
  • 15 days/month  $250
  • Full time  $320 (only $272 through Jan 2012)
  • add unlimited after hours/weekend access to any level  $75/month
  • add a Pavilion gym membership to any level for just $20/month
  • Flextime Punch Card $60: Drop in 6 times for up to 2 hours each. That works out to $5/hr, and you get free coffee! Does not include use of conference rooms.
  • OfficeXpats Flextime punch cards
    Note that memberships are limited to staffed business hours (8:30-5:30pm). Add after hours/weekends for $75/month.
