Out of THINK WEEK comes professional development workshops and groups for 2012

We heard variations on this theme during Think Week; it reinforces the value of community as the essential component of coworking.
At the interest groups brainstorm during Think Week we found more than enough passion for learning with and from each other, so we will be hosting as many workshops, classes, and user groups as there is leadership and energy. When Kanban was proposed as a workshop series, I learned enough about the process of visualizing workflow just at that one meeting to know that 1) I wanted to join the group, and 2) Jason and I could put it to use right away with our own business planning meetings. And we did.
Check out the new "Kanban-ish" display near the entrance to OfficeXpats, showing a backlog of ideas waiting for leadership, three that are ready with leadership and interest (the Kanban learning group, a video production club, and a complimentary currency club), and one in-progress group (Ignite Bainbridge). Feel free to add your own interests to the cards.

"Ignite Bainbridge" starts this week!
"Enlighten us, but make it quick." If you had 5 minutes on stage to inspire your fellow islanders, what would you say? Join us at this "2nd Wednesday" workshop as we start to learn this form of presentation of 5 minutes and 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. If you want to get a head start and learn more about the Ignite form, here's a good place to start: http://igniteshow.com/howto.
As we learn with each other to present our own Ignites, we will also be planning the first Ignite Bainbridge performance, targeted for May 12. We will select up to 15 presenters for a 2+ hr show. Ideally, we will videotape and maybe even stream the show to those who can't make it in person. So, presenters may end up with amazing video content of a short but polished performance piece for their web site! You do not need to commit to a performance in order to learn with us, however. Please RSVP on the Facebook event so we have an idea of how many might attend. |

How many days each month would you use OfficeXpats? A 'day' might be eight hours or more of getting work done in a productive, professional, and socially supportive environment. Or using a reserved conference room to host 6 people for a 2-hr meeting. Or both! You could even invite additional meeting attendees to join by Skype video conference.

- Full time $320 (only $272 through Jan 2012)
- add unlimited after hours/weekend access to any level $75/month
- add a Pavilion gym membership to any level for just $20/month
Note that memberships are limited to staffed business hours (8:30-5:30pm). Add after hours/weekends for $75/month.

OfficeXpats on Bainbridge Island is a workplace solution beyond commuting to the corporate office or working from home.
Coworking is about making the personal choice to work alongside other people instead of in isolation. We offer a shared "community" office for remote workers, independent consultants, entrepreneurs, and small businesses.
OfficeXpats is located upstairs in the Pavilion on Madison, just a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal, through beautiful downtown Winslow. We hope to help you in your quest for 'new ways to work.'
