The Pirate King Speaks About The Abduction of the Fat Lady
Omaha, NE - October 7, 2008
Opera Omaha officials have received a video from the Pirate King, which was released through PNN (Pirate Network News). "At first we were reluctant to show the footage. After consulting with our legal counsel, it was deemed to our advantage to show the video along with our response to the clip and the demands which were released yesterday," states Kelly Blice, Director of Marketing.
"These Pirates of Penzance just keep escalating the situation," comments John Wehrle, General Director. "First we suffered the violation of having our office broken into and the revelation that our cherished Fat Lady doll was stolen. Yesterday, that list of demands [demands]! While we sincerely desire the safe return of our Fat Lady, I wish to make it clear that Opera Omaha does not negotiate with Pirates!"
"If there was any doubt that these Pirates actually do have our dear doll, a picture [picture] accompanying the video clearly shows the Fat Lady in their clutches," adds Kelly Blice.

"Because resolving this issue is important to all parties, we will continue to promote our production, which runs Oct 15, 17, and 19 at the Orpheum Theater. While we encourage everyone to [buy tickets], it is not to meet the demands of the Pirates, but because this is such a wonderful show."
