Recycle Your Electronics, Support MHYC
In conjunction with District 5, MHYC will host an Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, April 10 at the East Montclair Community Center. Gather your old TVs and cell phones and, for a small fee, have them recycled responsibly. Proceeds will benefit MHYC's Leadership Council. Stay tuned for details.

MHYC Hiring for Summer of Service
Are you interested in gaining conservation knowledge and experience? Do you like to camp? Want to learn how to use a chainsaw? Build trails? Earn a scholarship for college? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, then the Summer of Service Program at Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is the job for you.
MHYC is offering team based opportunities for 18- to 24-year-olds to spend their summer working on land conservation projects. Camping and day crew positions are available. Apply before the early bird deadline of April 30th!

MHYC Awarded $99K to "Green" YouthBuild Program
The YouthBuild Program at Mile High Youth Corps recently received a $99,855 capacity-building grant from The Department of Labor. These stimulus funds will help YouthBuild Program Corpsmembers prepare for jobs in the green industry. The "GreenBuild" grant will significantly enhance MHYC's construction training program in the areas of energy efficiency and green building techniques, such as home weatherization and solar panel installation. "With an increased focus on green building techniques in the construction industry, the GreenBuild trainings and certifications will enhance the hiring potential of our graduates," said Program Manager Eliska Champagne-Veselka. "We want our graduates to be competitive in this tough job market and to succeed in the construction industry. This grant helps us to do both."
