That original international gathering was followed with a second Lausanne Congress which took place in Manila in 1989.  One major result was the formation of the Mission America Coalition by the U.S. Lausanne Committee in 1993.

The third major Lausanne international congress is scheduled to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, October 18-24. Only 400 participants from the U.S. have been selected to attend. Although most of you will not be able to attend in person, all of us can be significantly involved online.

The Lausanne Global Conversation (LGC) provides us with the opportunity to be involved in an interactive website (www.lausanne.org/conversation) which is focused on the issues at the cutting edge of missions and world evangelization. The LGC will provide a way for Christians to participate virtually in the Congress by watching video of the Congress sessions and responding with input and ideas.
