Small Steps

A journey of a thousand miles begins with
a single step.

Try This:

Last week I told you about what I was keeping in 2012 -- tracking my 5 fruits and veggies.

This week I'm focusing on what I want to LET GO of in 2012.

I want to LET GO of the belief that I have to do it alone.  I have a tendency to think that I can fix any problem or overcome any challenge on my own.  And I'm right, of course; however, it would be so much quicker if I would just ask for help.  This was highlighted so well for me last month when I finally broke down and asked a friend and fellow coach to do a tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT) session with me around portion sizes (see previous edition 2011.49).  I have been dealing with my emotional reaction to "unequal" portion sizes my whole life, sometimes more successfully than others.  Now, after one session with Barbara, my inner 5-year old hasn't yet jumped out and kidnapped my mind even once.  I'm loving it.  Now that isn't to say that I haven't chosen portion sizes larger than are good for me, but it's by choice and not emotional hijacking.

This week and this next year, I want to LET GO of going it alone and work on asking for help as soon as I see the need.

What do you want to LET GO of in 2012?
How'd it go?

What did you decide to KEEP in 2012?

I've lost weight twice before but I gained it back eventually.  This time I'm determined to keep it off and I realize that it's not a one time fix.  It's a journey.  And as with all great journeys, you learn as you go.

I take these small steps with you each week because I also need to build and maintain the habits and behaviors that support me in my journey.  Thanks for joining me each week.  Have fun and enjoy your life!
