The Contractor Connection E-Newsletter Launches a New Edition!
With SCE's enhanced support to Authorized Participants, it only makes sense we communicate more often. Starting this month, we are launching a Support Services edition every other month to supplement the editions you currently receive. In addition, special editions will continue to be released when the timeliness of the information cannot wait for the monthly edition.
The Support Services edition will be technology focused. As a technology is featured, we'll remind you of any recent developments affecting the technology (e.g., policy and process) and new solutions. We'll also share information on related training and education events.
This first Support Services edition focuses on Lighting. It includes:
- LED - background and reminder of new solutions
- T12s - information you can use to explain to your customers the upcoming expiration of T12 as a basecase

LEDs: Lighting a Business Near You!
From refrigerated cases at your grocery store to the channel signage at the neighborhood hardware store, light emitting diodes (LEDs) have begun showing up in businesses all around town. SCE is staying ahead of the wave and is now offering additional Express Solutions for LED applications.
First, a little background on the technology: An LED produces light through the stimulation of a semiconductor crystal with electrons. The resulting light illuminates deep saturated colors more effectively - and produces less heat - than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. This makes LEDs an ideal choice for lighting in retail displays and cold environments, such as walk-in freezers and refrigerated display cases. LEDs also produce light instantly (as opposed to fluorescent bulbs, which may glow or flicker before reaching full brightness), making them an excellent option for controls. Compared to more conventional lamp types, LEDs also enjoy longer life and better durability.
Now Available - Integral Lamp LED Incentives*
On January 1, Express Solutions expanded its list of LED offerings to include the integral lamp LED solutions listed below. To qualify for incentives, all integral LED lamps must be ENERGY STAR® qualified. Check out p. 16 of the Solutions Directory for a complete list of eligibility criteria. Additional Express Solution codes provide incentives for LED lighting systems in refrigerated cases, channel signs and surface, pendant or down lights.
