Greetings!

Spring is here already?  It seems like just a couple weeks since we were chipping ice from the dog park steps.  As I'm sure you've noticed however, the park is well into the thaw and we actually had to call the town earlier than usual for a load of mulch.  As always, the Town's operations department was quick to respond and not only dropped off a load of mulch, but they spread it too!

Thank you to everyone for picking up after their dogs and helping clean up strays as well.  A sweep of the park last week wasn't nearly as brutal as it has been in Springs past.  There is however, a ton of garbage outside the park fences thanks to some recent high winds and some more careless park users. April 23-29 is designated by the Town as Pitch-in-week  but the Klub will rally our pack once again on Earth Day, April 22 for an afternoon of garbage collection outside the fenced areas and local walking paths. Stay tuned for an invite!

We hope you'll be able to join us later this week for our Annual General Meeting
on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 7:30pm.  It will be held at the the McConaghy Centre (10100 Yonge Street) on the 2nd floor in room 205.  There's lots of parking in back. Join us for a coffee! We'll be discussing K9 Klub plans for the coming year and there will be a short presentation from Richmond Hill's Parks, Recreation and Culture department regarding the progress of the new leash-free area in Phyllis Rawlinson Park.  We have a couple of seats available on our board if you would like commit some time and get more involved in our projects and causes this year. Email dwalker@rhk9klub.ca for more information.

Planning is now well underway for this year's Pooch Party! If you'd like to help out on the planning committee, please drop us a line. Also, if anyone knows of a good DJ or MC that does public events like ours, a recommendation would be most appreciated! Some early bird vendors have already booked booths!

See you at the park!

K9 Klub To-Do List

In no particular order, these are some of the suggestions from our members:
  • Design and ammenities input for new dog park location
  • Pooch Party 2012!

We encourage you to email us your ideas or post in the forums at our website where we can debate priority. We can't do it all at once and projects will require additional fundraising.

Should you have any fundraising ideas, we'd love to hear them!
