Greetings!

Spring is just around the corner, and we cannot wait!  There will be lots of opportunities to learn about lawn care and lawn design to support our creeks;  some of them are listed below.  Also, if you haven't already shared your thoughts and concerns about watershed problems and issues, visit our website at www.deercreekfriends.net and fill out this easy form. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Update: Stream Care Guide for Streamside Landowners
Changes to Resource Link

Redosier Dogwood
Last summer we sent out an email newsletter with an article about improving stream health through personal lawn care habits. The link we originally posted to the "Stream Care Guide for Streamside Landowners" has been changed.

You can now access this resource at our website, www.deercreekfriends.net.

While you're there, check out another great resource, The Lawn Reform Coalition, with information about regionally appropriate lawn species, organic and low-water care of lawns, and examples of gardens with less lawn or even no lawns to inspire homeowners.

New Wildlife Photos From the Community
The Deer Creek Friends are expanding on FlickrHeader

Last month, we asked for you to share your photos of the Deer Creek Watershed and some of you have already responded. Head over to our Flickr photostream to see some of the unique wildlife and landscapes that our communities members were able to capture. As the contributor of the photo on the right Bill Bascom pointed out, "There is a great deal more wildlife there than when I grew up on Litzsinger Road in the 40's and 50's." If you want to add to the collection, you can email us here, or follow the instructions below.

Uploading your images is quick and simple.

  1. Go to Flickr.com
  2. Log on to your Flickr account, or sign-up. The account is free and requires a yahoo.com email address. If you don't have one, Flickr will guide you through the steps.
  3. Click the link above and under "Group Pool" click "join."
  4. Click upload photos and your images will be added to the photostream.
  5. You will be able to enter a description if you'd like.
