| Deer Creek Tributary Naming Contest
Naming Committee Now Forming
Did you know that there are at least thirty-one tributaries of Deer Creek that have no officially recognized name? According to Jane Messenger of the Missouri Geographic Naming Board, none of the tributaries upstream of the confluence of Deer Creek and Two Mile Creek have designated names.
These tributaries are located primarily in the city of Creve Coeur, but also in the cities of Ladue, Frontenac and Westwood. A committee is now forming that will design a naming contest to provide Deer Creek tributaries with official names that will be printed on published maps of the watershed.

| Stream Care Guide for Streamside Landowners
Tools for improving stream health through yard care:
Many folks who helped with the Ladue Creeks clean-up live on Deer Creek or one of its tributaries, and have been asking about planting advice for stream health. "Stream Care Guide: An Owner's Manual for Streamside Landowners" is a
great resource for improving yard management in a way that will support the health of Deer Creek.
Want some ideas for good trees to plant? According to Native Alternatives to Invasive Plants by C. Colston Burrell, Winterberry, Spicebush, and Red Osier Dogwood are
trees & shrubs native to this region that do well near
streams. Or, check out "Appendix B" at the back of the Manual for Streamside Landowners (see link above) for a more extensive list of recommendations.
