The Wesley Foundation spent the second weekend in October at Arrowhead State Park for the annual fall retreat. It was a great time to fellowship and build relationships.

Wesley Retreat

OU Wesley students and staff spent the weekend of October 8-10 at Arrowhead State Park for the annual fall retreat. We had an incredible weekend of worship, prayer, recreation, rest and relationship building. One of the best parts of our fall retreat is that it is entirely student led. All of our preachers were students. This is a wonderful opportunity for students who may be exploring a call to ministry to preach for the first time. One of the very first sermons I ever preached was on a Wesley retreat at Canyon camp ten years ago! The students who did the preaching did a wonderful job and the rest of the students were blessed by their message.
In addition to some great worship the students spent time in small groups praying and discussing the sermons they heard. We did lots of games and team building exercises. We also had a giant game of kickball and lots of ultimate Frisbee, and hiking. The students are already looking forward to and talking about the spring retreat in which our guest preachers will be Bishop Robert Hayes and Bishop Scott Jones!

CCFI Diaper Drive
In an effort to get our students more missionally focused and more generous with their time and money we are having a specific mission focus each month for the students to raise money and awareness. Our mission focus in October was the Center for Children & Families (CCFI) diaper drive. Our students gave generously all month and raised over 2,000 diapers, 2,000 baby wipes, and many cans of formula!
Our mission focus in November & December is going to be Rio Bravo, Mexico. We have set a lofty goal of raising $2,000 to help build a house for a needy family through Manos Juntas & the Mexico Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. If you would like to contribute to this effort, you can make a one-time donation here.
