No, he's an ordinary American citizen. What if new laws, media propaganda and secret societies label John a danger to society? And what if all this sets the stage for a biblically-prophesied global government run by the antichrist?

The Demarcation Line
First here, I just want to personally thank our subscribers for the dozens of great and encouraging emails we've received in the past few days. I've been thrilled and refreshed by them and each and every one is appreciated. Anytime we take on a controversial or polarizing issue such as Glenn Beck's portrayal of Mormonism as "Christian," there is going to be some opposition and occasionally even some nasty responses. As you know, it is not my goal to try to make everyone happy. That's not the nature of the work of apologetics. This is not a "warm a fuzzy," "feel good" ministry and our objective is to expose error, cut through confusion, and examine beliefs and practices both in and out of the Church in the light of biblical truth. As unsettling as it is for some, I believe it is a necessity for our spiritual safety (both individually and collectively) that the Church wake up and realize that not everyone who sits along side us in the pews believes in or has even a reasonable grip on teachings of the Bible. Frankly, the current scriptural illiteracy gripping the Church is a direct result from years of embracing any number of feel-good fads which have been marketed to us as the newest personal or church growth tool. It is easy to conclude how and why compromise and doctrinal confusion have slipped into the mindset and lifestyle of professing Christians today. This is exactly the condition we can expect when the Church rejects solid teaching and uncompromising preaching. Now, just as in the "Age of the Apologist" (2nd century AD), when Bible believers rock the boat of the liberals, Emergents, and cultists, etc., particular individuals whose comfort zone has been violated react negatively against us. We can expect this more and more as time passes in the run up to Antichrist's seductive takeover of planet Earth. The words of Isaiah surely describe many who would claim to be professing Christians today - but do not want to embrace the whole counsel of God - when he wrote: "That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers , See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us." (Isa. 30:9-11)
The Demarcation Line
For the last couple of years now I have been saying that the dividing line or point of demarcation between true, biblical believers and those just playing church is becoming more and more pronounced. Those in the Church who wish to go with the Bible are beginning to really stand out from those who are just making up their own rules or who are willfully remaining ignorant of God's truths. Now, other godly and respected leaders in the Church are saying the same type of thing. Evangelicals (and those who claim to be) seem more divided every day. The obvious reason for this is simply because so many around us are not willing to just stay on track with God's finished and sure Word. I feel like a broken record saying this, but the vast majority of what ails the Church would disappear if we'd just completely surrender to the Truth of the Bible. One day, God is no doubt going to completely divide the sheep from goats (Matthew 25:31-33, etc). I believe we are getting a glimpse of this with the current house cleaning that is underway in His Body, for surely there are many who may claim to be Christian but who, in actuality, deny Him, His Cross, and His changeless Word. This is definitely a troubling period we are living in but God had, has, and will have His loyal Remnant who remain true to the faith once for all delivered to the Saints. Rejoice as you wait, watch, pray, and sound the warning!

 An "Ex-Mormon" Speaks Out
May God continue to bless you and your ministry!  Thank you a million times for having the courage to reveal Glenn Beck as the Machiavellian "wolf in sheep's clothing" that he is.  I am truly frightened of what is happening.  As an ex-Mormon, I know what their agenda is....I was taught it since childhood, that the Mormon agenda was to take over this country.  And now, as a Christian, I am terrified of what is happening...not so much for the Mormons, but for the Christians they are deceiving.  Please keep speaking out....those who know the truth will support you and pray for you...and God's angels will be there behind you, too. God bless you, and protect you!  He is Jehovah-Sabaoth...and we trust and follow Him!
In Christ Jesus,
- Julia (Virginia)
Eric, I am grateful for you and Brannon and the few others who are crying out to Christians to beware of the spiritual deception in Mormonism. I too appreciate Beck's historical facts he brings out, but understand completely his religion of Mormonism is completely incompatible with Christianity. I often wonder to myself how America would feel if he were in the religion of Islam? Islam and Mormonism are so VERY similar in so many ways...that American Christians are so completely ignorant of the truths of Mormonism is SCARY!!!!
Press on, in Christ...
- Becky (Florida)
Stand on Beck
Brother Barger,
Thank you for your "Stand" on Glenn Beck. It is refreshing to hear the truth about the one thing that the Spirit has been troubling me about more and more. That is his pushing the Mormon theology as Christian and his methodical leading of the blind to the Mormon "god"....
- Les (Missouri)
I Totally Agree
God bless you Eric!  I totally agree--We do need to know God's Word.  I too keep praying Glenn Beck get informed on who Jesus is and get saved and know Jesus is the Only Way--i also thought he was  misinformed as many Mormons are.  It was disturbing when he compared Jesus to Gandhi, etc...
There is NO COMPARING JESUS.  Jesus DIED for us.. Gandhi did not.  No one did but Him..So putting Jesus in a category is I think horrific.  My heart sank when I heard that (I watched the episode).  I keep praying people will wake up and seek God as God draws those to Himself and they would know the Truth (Jesus) and the Truth(Jesus) would set them free....esp. for Beck I would love for him to be just a non-denom Christian :)  God bless you brother---praise Jesus for those like you.
- Rene' (Texas)
I Quit Watching...
Hi Eric, Pastor Dan here, I quit watching Glen Beck completely because of his comparison of Jesus with a mere man. Up to that point, I watched him everyday. AS I watched him play down the omnipotence of Jesus Christ i realized how Satan will use anyone, not just the liberals but conservatives to. I stand with you brother.
- Pastor Dan (Indiana)
Another "Ex-Mormon" Speaks Out
Brother, Oh Brother!
It never ceases to amaze me how some folks get started on something and just won't let it go!  Brother Barger, I don't understand your need to attack Glenn Beck.  First off, Glenn isn't my leader, Yeshua Hammashiach is.  Regardless of "What Jesus" or "What God" Glenn prays to, I pray to and follow Yeshua Hammashiach, YHWH and Ruach Hakkadosh.  Your little attack on folks who don't see things the way you do, "Glenn is a Mormon? Who cares! He's our leader.", is rather childish.  Glenn is not my leader, and I dare say, most of his audience don't view him as their leader.  But what many of us don't like is cannibalism, and you, Brannon and Jan appear to be, trying to eat one of our own ('conservative', not Christian).  If Glenn was a devote atheists and calling for you to get back to "God" and to "Pray", would that make you feel better?...It really blows my mind why you are attacking Glenn's Mormonism at this juncture!  If the country and the Church wasn't in the mess it is in and on the verge of collapse, I'd say, what-ever floats your boat, but our country is on the verge of economic collapse, our constitution is being cast out, and the Church is being infiltrated by Emergent Church pastors!  I'd say we have much bigger fish to fry, than who is Glenn Beck's Jesus and God, but far be it from me to try and advise those who go after splinters in other's fingers when they have a beam in their own eye!
So when will you start you series of attacks on the Catholic Church and the Pope?  Are you not aware that they profess to be "Christian" but, clearly they are not!  If you are bent on exposing the lies of other denominations and religions, which isn't a bad thing, then Catholism (sic) has to be at the top of the list!  If your calling is to expose the false religions, then you need to balance you articles with info-blogs about the evils of Catholism (sic) - how it elevates Mary, mother of Yeshua to co-deitism; advocates praying to saints and Mary for the forgiveness of sins, protection and blessings;  praying to the pope and call him the, "Father" or "High Priest"; referring to priest as "Father"; the belief that the ucarist actually becomes the flesh of Yeshua when they take communion; the rosary; purgatory and the purchase of a persons salvation after they have died, and that just touching on the high points!  They too refer to "Jesus Christ" and "God" in their prayers, but if we go to the Bible, there is no way they can be Following Yeshua Hammashiach in light of the list of practices I have just given.  So when will you post/publish your expose' on the false teachings of the Catholic Church and how they are seducing Christians into abandoning sound Biblical teachings for corrupted and false teachings and Idolatry!?!
Again, I agree, Mormonism is a false "Christian" religion, though a "religion" it is.  Most of its doctrine is wrong... no argument about it.  Glenn, if in fact he and his family believe in the Mormon specific doctrine, are no more saved than than a devout Catholic or Muslim.  That all said, I still say you are wasting way too much time to Glenn, when Glenn rarely espouses any Mormon doctrine on his shows, and when folks hear him spout, "Pray" or "Pray to Jesus", they are going to go with what they know, not necessarily the "Mormon version of 'Jesus'".  I will continue to pray for Glenn to find his way out of the wilderness and break the deceptive grips of Momonism, but at the same time I will pray for you, to start dealing with the major issues facing the Believers/Followers of Yeshua Hammashiach!  Oh yeah, and once again, if you and your peers weren't so hung up on the replacement theology insistence of calling,  YHWH, by the generic term, "God" or "Lord", and Yeshua Hammashiach, by the made up name of "Jesus" or "Jesus Christ", then maybe there would be no confusion about who Glenn or anyone else is talking about when they say, "Pray to God" or "Jesus Christ is the only way to Salvation!"  But that is a subject for another discussion.
Looking forward to your expose' on the lure of the False Teachings of Catholism (sic)!
Maranatha!  Mark

Eric's Response

We have been all through this, haven't we? I think you might be the one who doesn't quite get it, Brother. This is a very current, hot issue and each of us (Brannon Howse, Jan Markell, and Ed Decker) have received extraordinary volumes of email and phone calls concerning this. Many in the Christian community are very concerned with how their friends and relatives are perceiving, or better said, subtly ignoring biblical truth because of the influence of Glenn Beck. You can pick me apart all you like but I have never backed down on an issue over all of these years just because somebody disagreed or thought I was childish.

As for the RC church...I have dealt with it extensively. When I did, I received the obligatory flurry of pro-Catholic mail, just as I expected. I finally summed up my thoughts about 10 years ago and posted it to our website. It's easily accessible and found at: However, concerning the current issue, the very finely tuned deception and convolution of doctrines and teaching done by Glenn Beck has the possibility of affecting far more of my particular readers than the Pope.
By the way, did you ever bother to listen to the two-hour radio broadcast the four of us did on this? If not, why not? It can be found at (August 28 programs).

Real Jesus vs Counterfeits logo
Is Glenn Beck's "Jesus" the authentic one and only Son of God or is the Mormon "Jesus" one of many counterfeits? Ask yourself, is YOUR version of Jesus the one reflected in the pages of God's Word, the Bible, or was he once a man who became one of many gods? Can YOUR Jesus save a soul eternally or does he lead you to a religion based on your own righteousness?

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 exhorts us to beware of imposters named "Jesus." Galatians 1:8-9 demands that anything claiming to be of God must harmonize with the original apostolic faith. If someone proclaims "Jesus," it is our responsibility to be sure that they are referring to the biblical Savior - the REAL Jesus.

In this video clip Eric Barger addresses the crowd assembled for the Lamb and Lion Ministries conference in Allen (DFW), Texas, June, 2010. It is excerpted from the seminar DVD "The REAL Jesus vs. The Counterfeits."
