... a True Story

Learn what Headhunting is all about
Greetings!

I am a Headhunter. And this is a true story!

Phil wasn't even really looking for a new job when I approached him.

I contacted him about an opening at the City of Prince George. They had been looking for some time to fill the position of General Manager of 'The CN Centre'...a 6000 seat multiplex, home to the Cougars of the WHL.

Prince George's HR Team had exhausted all the 'regular' avenues of recruitment  ...ads in the paper, job boards, plus their own web site. All to no avail!

When I got the assignment, Prince George made it clear that they needed the multiplex to be a money-maker. It would be necessary to find someone who understood arenas from a technical point of view. It should be someone who could attract first class performances, write contracts and manage entertainment. Also important to the City was a need to make money from the concessions.

The Director wanted a technical entrepreneur, an impresario to run activities from ice shows to rock singers. And one who could also walk on water ...if at all possible!

So my team and I got to work using Ravenhill's Full Search Process™ plus our selected contacts across Canada...the two key things that set us apart from all our competition.

These contacts, now number about 2000. We've discovered them while attending all major Municipal Conferences across Canada over the last 4 years ...usually as the only headhunter in attendance.

After this we identified about 100 arena and facility managers including about 40 local prospects. We immediately shortened the list to 50 and began contacting potential 'ideal' candidates.

That's when I called Phil on a referral.

He was a 35-year-old father of two who had been working for some time at similar multiplex in Brandon Manitoba as Assistant GM. Using my contacts; I found out that his boss, the General Manager and also a young man, wasn't going anywhere soon.

And Phil knew it!

It was something he had not really considered until I called and it played a major role in convincing Phil to take a serious look at Prince George's opportunity.

This work of getting a candidate's mind open is the key role of a Headhunter - something a personnel agency never does. And it was a great opportunity that Phil would never have known about, had I not headhunted him!

Plus Phil turned out to be the 'best' candidate for Prince George.

After putting Phil and two other finalists through our ASK Selection Process™, with Prince George's selection team, he was ready to go ahead...and they were ready to meet him.

Ravenhill set up the interview, negotiated the salary and bonus plus a relocation allowance on his behalf. Headhunting landed him the position. The City of Prince George was happy too.

By the way, Phil hadn't seen the ads, the job boards or the web site. Because he had his head down was working hard and was relatively happy plus he was reasonably paid.

"Headhunting is the only way you can find 'ideal' candidates so that you can select the 'best' one". dbm'50™
