On March 11 & 12, the Harvest Women MLC hosted a women's retreat for 28 women at St. Francis Xavier church in Mayetta, Kansas.  With the theme, Finding Sacred Balance in our Lives, the participants were nurtured, inspired, and challenged to live out their faith in the busyness of ordinary life.

Martha and Mary, sisters of Lazarus, (aka Joanne McCracken and Chris Suriano), were guest speakers.   Martha with her doing and Mary with her presence helped us consider ways to balance our obligations with the things that bring us joy.

What a great way to begin our Lenten journey!

Marianist Women's Summit

Marie Therese

On March 25 -27, over 50 lay and vowed religious Marianist women gathered for the 2011 Marianist Women's Summit!  It was a gathering of faith, passion, and hope for the Marianist family, with immense inspiration from our founders - Adele deBatz deTrenquelleon, Marie TAdeleherese De Lamourous, and William J Chaminade.

Jo Ann Zanotti said

"I came away from the summit inspired--especially by the young women present.  It was truly an INTERGENERATIONAL experience--this is one of the aspects of the summit I valued most."

Editor's Reflection  By Jacqui Griswold

Thank-you to everyone who sent prayers for my dad's recovery post surgery and the subsequent complications.  After spending 10days in the hospital, he is still in recovery mode but doing ok.  He has planted his garden seeds and there are now plenty of tiny melon, pepper and tomato seedlings growing in small pots on his porch.  They will be transplanted outside when it is warmer.

I am preparing to transition the MLNNA Communications position to Matt Dunn.  I've brought you the monthly newsletters since January 2008 with the goal to provide ideas that could help your local community and to share what's going on within the Lay Marianist family from around North America.

I know that Matt will go great.  Have you checked out the changes he has made to the website?    I can't wait to see how he takes it to the next level.  I was always depending on someone else to take care of the web but since Matt has the skill to be the webmaster and can load content to the web he will be able to provide links to more in-depth content than we carry in the E-news.

Please be generous with your time and send in articles and pictures about your community activities.  It makes this volunteer job much easier.

I've enjoyed all the people I've interacted with over the years and will still be here to assist Matt and work with all of you in our common mission to bring Christ to the world!
