Happy Birthday!!

Chaminade_icon

 He envisioned a director that never dies. So as we begin the celebration of the 250th anniversary of William Joseph Chaminade's birth we note how his life continues.

First, we note the beginning of the Nevi'im Community at the University of Dayton. In a beautiful ceremony and Mass at the Immaculate Conception Chapel on December 11, 2010 seven new Lay Marianists committed themselves to live out our charism for the next year.

Second, this announcement made it to my inbox this past Monday:

I want you to know that to-morrow morning at 6.15 a.m., S. Gisle Baw, responsible of the Unit of Africa and the 4 Sisters who make part of the new community will participate in the Bishop of Kara's Mass. Then he will bless them and will send them in mission. During the day they will leave for Kpatchil at about 60 miles from Kara in a complete rural zone where they are going to take care of a small maternity.

(Sister) Marie Jolle

Our sisters are beginning a new ministry to poor mothers in rural Togo. Amazing!

Third, a day does not go by when I don't see the Marianist Charism in action. Through your kindness, your ministries, your hospitality, your faith, your communities, your dedication and your ongoing commitment to this vibrant, growing Family of Mary the director lives.

Happy 250th birthday Blessed Billy Joe. May there be many, many more.

peace and love,

aj

Thank-you to those who have responded to our annual appeal for MLNNA SUPPORT

Your contributions support projects:

  * to assist lay community development (MLFI),

  * social justice through Marianist Social Justice Collaborative (MSJC)

  * our administrative office support which allowed us to print and distribute the new brochures on Characteristics of Lay Marianists.

This infrastructure also allowed us to quickly collect and distribute funds to our brothers

and sisters in Haiti following the earthquake.

Please continue your inspirational, community and missionary work and give generously to support MLNNA. A gift of $10.00 a month or a one time gift suitable to your income will help us do more to support our Marianist ministry projects.

Editor's Reflection

By Jacqui Griswold

The Marianist Charisms;  FAITH, MISSION, COMMUNITY, INCLUSIVITY and MARY

provide a rich foundation for our small communities;

Father Chaminade said we are all missionaries.  May you embrace the challenges of our mission and find the power to change the world by working in community with faith-filled people.

 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This is YOUR news.  What's happening with your community?  The purpose of this communication is to share happening that may inspire other lay Marianists.

Send me a summary of what you are doing.

Keep your text short and describe who, what, why, when and how.  Deadline for the next E-news is  February 9.  If possible provide a digital picture (JPEG format 100 - 900K) with your news story.
Send to Jacqui Griswold, MLNNA editor
