The year 2010 makes me very proud for a number of reasons. I am proud of the caliber and offering of programs we presented this year; proud range of the new board members who joined our ranks. And I am especially proud of the support we have received from so many of you who are reading this. A heartfelt thank you to all. Along with the addition of a number of new lovers of music to our board we are very pleased that Rise Kern has joined our Artistic Advisory Board. Rise brings decades of experience as an artist to our organization and we are delighted to have her join us. This year Dranoff winning artists entertained more than 2,000 people. They appeared all over the city at venues like The Adrienne Arsht Center, University of Miami's Gusman Hall, Miami's Design District and the Lincoln Theater. They partnered with the New World Symphony and The Bergonzi String Quartet. The same artists have performed at the Carnegie Hall, in Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Asia and Russia. Piano Slam, a program where rap poetry meets music, was also a huge success in 2010. We worked with 28 Miami Dade PUblic middle and high schools all over the county and received over 1,200 poems from participating students. Over three hundred Dranoff 100 members and new Foundation patrons met out artists and enjoyed private concerts in Dranoff Salons this year. One of the most exciting projects that we have taken on this year is the booking of a Latin American Tour for the 2011/2012 Season. Dranoff artists will play in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Guatemala and Mexico in the countries' premier concert halls.
The close of 2010 is also the perfect spot to look forward to 2011 and beyond: next year begins the 18 month cycle leading up to the 2012 Competition. This is a gargantuan effort which starts with our relationship with over 350 conservatories worldwide and culminates in the weeklong competition in May of 2012. It is the source of new music and new artists at the highest level of musicanship.
It is also drama, athleticism, beauty, electricity, innovation, vitality, and hope! I invite you to become involved with this effort to ensure the future of the mission and the music of the Dranoff.
