Dear JABBERS:
Thank you for saving me from 50 Shades of Grey. Judging by all the chatter I'm hearing, mine is not a popular opinion. But try as I might, I just couldn't get into the hottest book of the summer. My Kindle has been stalled at 27% of the way through Christian and Anastasia's story for the past few weeks, and there it shall remain for eternity. It's not the subject matter I object to; I just can't get past the writing style. Which I suppose validates that I'm in the right line of work. My parents would be so proud: apparently I am a bigger literary snob than I realized (although I did love The Hunger Games and will watch just about anything on Bravo, so my snob factor is fairly subjective).
I'm grateful because thanks to your recommendations, my Kindle is now full of a diverse, quality selection of books to keep me occupied all summer long. There are few things I enjoy more than cozying up with a good read, so I am excited to share suggestions submitted and recommended by your fellow JABBERS. We had such a great response, that we're unveiling them in a three-part series. If you missed Part 1 on Friday, you can click HERE to see the first set of JABBER-approved books. Part 2 is at the bottom of today's newsletter.
Here's to a great read - at home, on the beach, at the gym, at the doctor's office, or anywhere you can find the time. Happy JABBING . . . and Happy Reading!

Where Can I Go Au Naturale?
From Darlyne Chauve: REPLY I'm interested in recommendations for organic farms or other sources to buy produce in Northern Palm Beach County. Also, are there any great raw restaurants in the area? I'm willing to travel for a great one. Thanks!
We Need to Ship to the Military! Our 501c3 provides iPads to our troops. We have always shipped through the US Post Office but they just stopped shipping anything with lithium batteries. Now we have no way to ship these important items to our front lines. We are working with private shippers but they don't ship to APO (military) addresses. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can ship to Afghanistan? We have iPads ready to be shipped! Thank you so much. |

Where Can Moms Find Meaningful Work?
From Margaret Beasley: REPLY After years of being a stay-at-home mom, my kids are finally in school for the majority of the day. I am looking to work, but I don't want to report to a traditional 9-to-5 office job. I've heard there are websites out there that offer opportunities for "mompreneurs" - MomCorps is one of them. Does anyone know of a website, message board, blog or niche employment agency in our community that caters to women looking for flexible, fulfilling job opportunities? I'm not interested in direct sales or home parties - I want a real career, just not in the traditional setting. Thanks!

Trunk Show
From Ashley Schutz: REPLY My son is headed to sleepaway camp this summer and I think it's time we invested in a trunk for all his clothes and gear. Where can I buy one locally? I've seen some online but I'd like to get one here if I can. Thanks!

When you need to find the best pediatric dermatologist, interior designer, or personal chef in Palm Beach County, you turn to your fellow JABBERS. So it's only fitting that you would turn to each other for book suggestions, too. Summer is soon upon us, so whether you're spending your free time by the pool, at the beach, or in a shady hammock, one thing is certain - you need a good book! Here are some tried and true recommendations to help us all enjoy the lazy days of summer. If you missed Part 1, click HERE, and tune in Friday for Part 3.
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen Recommended By: Amy Semancik Diaz
"Actually, anything from Sarah Addison Allen! I read all of her books last summer after giving birth to my second son and had more time on my hands. The Peach Keeper is her latest book but I started with The Girl Who Chased the Moon which was amazing; I couldn't put it down. Allen's books are kind of like taking you into this quirky world of the "typical" southern family next door," Amy shares. Order HERE.
Sarah's Key by Tatiana Rosnay Recommended by Amy Triggs
With more than five million copies in print and over two years on the New York Times bestseller list, Sarah's Key centers on a ten-year-old Jewish girl's heroic act to save her younger brother from police round-up in 1942 France. Her story intersects with an American journalist investigating the raid sixty years later. The secrets she uncovers link her to Sarah, and unveil questions about her own future. Order HERE.
The Kitchen House by Kathleen GrissomRecommended By: Victoria Assa, JustAskBoo Editorial Director
When a seven-year old white girl is orphaned onboard a ship bringing her from Ireland to America, she is thrust into work with the slaves of a kitchen house at a tobacco plantation. Despite the difference in skin color, Lavinia becomes deeply attached to her adopted family. But when she is accepted into the world of the big house, her loyalties are tested as she makes a choice between two very different worlds. Order HERE.
Carry the One by Carol Anshaw Recommended By: Samantha Schosberg Feuer
Samantha is serious about books: until recently, she drove down to Miami once a month to meet with the club she helped found there years ago. She tells us this book is similar in concept to the movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer," but in book form, and actually good. The story follows a group of friends over a span of 25 years, following their involvement in a fatal car accident. Order HERE.
Fifty Shades of Grey by EL James Recommended by Barbara Chester
You've heard all about it . . . in quiet whispers at school to not-so-quiet shrieks over cocktails. When a naïve college student gets involved with a powerful business titan, she enters a seductive world that pushes her to her limits. Editor's Note: While these books may not be for me, I'm clearly in the minority. Seems like everyone is reading them and loving them, including my dear friend Barbara Chester. Order HERE.
